Stunning Red Flowered Perennial?

    I collected the seed for this from one growing in my mum's garden about 5 years ago, I sowed the seed earlier this year and got a few plants growing and two have flowered, I just can't for the life of me remember its name, i should do and its on the tip of my tongue, any ideas? Thanks :thumb:

    It has purple/green leaves and the flower is about the size of an old 50p piece..

    Something keeps telling me its something....'vesuvius'??????

      Hi Bilbo, well it sort of looks like Lychnis & there is one called Lychnis Arwrightii Vesuvius & the only reason I think this is because I was considering getting some seed for next year... How strange... :D

        That's the one; interesting that in its first year it has a larger apparently red flower and then more but smaller flowers in its second year that appear more orange.

        I remember my mum's looking like the orange flowered plant...
