Does it exist? Paint which lasts years and can be used on pot? Some of the pots I use are either old looking, or don't match.. and wanted to go for a colourful theme this summer.

    Cheers

Are we talking plastic pots or ceramic?

Ceramic pots, I'm not crazy enough (yet) to paint plastic ones.

Can't you just use masonry paint then?

I think I'm crazy enough to try to posh up plastic pots, except I haven't tried yet. I remember when I was at school we grew a plant each in a yogurt pot. Before doing it, we sanded the pot to make it rough, and then spray painted it with ordinary spray paint for cars. It worked quite well for the duration of the project, but then it went in the bin, so no idea how long it would have lasted.

If I can find a paint that is sufficiently waterproof, I next plan to build up paper mashy around chip buckets from morrisons, then paint them to look like more expensive containers. No idea yet if it will work.

      Good luck in your quest.

          Hello Kyle

I am a semi-professional artist and this may sound silly to you but I use acrylic paint you buy in 100g or whatever tubes outside. I have painted a water butt and walls which have to endure up to 40c heat temperatures and not quite freezing temperatures. I have never re-painted the water butt after 7-8 years but I do re-do the outdoor wall mural (approx 2x2 meters) every couple of years but only because it is south facing and does fade but mainly because I change the picture.

I also use acrylic paint for dying clothes as it is permanent once dry.

Needless to say, I use it in my artwork. :heehee:

Worth a try at about a pound a tube. :yess: It's not glossy so you may want to put a varnish or something over it.

I've used that before kyleleonard it's about £5 a canister in craft shops it's pretty simple to use and works wonders on paper crafts and things:thumbsup:

                  Hi Kyle and A

I've never put a coating on my outside artwork but I guess it all depends on if you want a gloss or not. I find acrylic a fantastic medium to work with and you can water it down with either water or an outside paint using it as a colorant which I do on the mural.

Let us know and see what you do Kyle.

Edit: Re-reading the posts, my water butt is plastic and my shed wall is rendered concrete ... which I also did!

                    Will do.

B&Q sell the spray for £6 and green acyrlic paint (400ml) for £6, so I'll probably buy them :D

Actually had some in my favourites for ages (but for my room :D) but didn't decorate my bedroom in the end.
