Yes. Indeed it is. I presume you are not growing it as a standard (most people don't, but it can be done). That being the case, now is the time to take it down to about 1ft tall.

Don't forget, Buddleia is one of the easiest plants to propagate from prunings.
You can take one of the pruned branches, cut it into lengths of about 6 to 12 inches, literally shove them in the ground and they will have rooted by the end of the summer. It really is that easy! :dbgrtmb:

Jack, Budleia will grow happily on old buildings sites and anywhere there's a scrap of soil. I even saw some last week in Stoke that were perched up over 40 foot on the roof of an old abandoned building..........sorry, Mate!!:heehee:

good job they are easy to grow, we had one last year but it blew down in a gale and now i plan to replace it with a new variety called flower power.

i am perfectly capable of killing plants so this should hopefully buck that trend!

I saw that one in one of the catalogues. It looks really nice and more brightly coloured than the norm. I'm thinking of ordering one or two.

As for buddleja in general, yep, extremely easy. I have very little success with cuttings. Only two species I find easy, willow and buddleja.

i have found a couple of online places that sell it but postage is 50% of the plant cost unless i order 3 but not really sure i need 3.

You're right, JPS, one would have been enough and you could have taken some easy cuttings off it for more plants if you needed them!

I have four buddleias - which I pruned the other day - but my favourite is White Profusion.

I really like the white ones, and you can get crimson red ones too, I've seen them growing but can't find a supplier.

I'd love to grow both. When I lived in Sheffield there were loads along the river, but alas, its a bit far to drive for a few sneaky cuttings.
