went to Asda tonight after work and had a look at the plants and gardening bits and bobs outside and picked up some bargains.

i bought 2 clamatis (Sunset and Etoile Violette) a passiflora (Purple Haze) and a jasmine (Beesianum) for £10 for all 4.

    they're only small plants, but for a tenner, i can't grumble!!

Home Bargains also have young climbers in for under £2; still a good price though, 4 plants for a tenner :blue thumb:

Morrisons do fantastic Clematis too. Alsorts at £1.79 each - sometimes less if you buy two. I have a slight guilt feeling as the likes of these will surely drive out the local nursery places.

All the cheap ones at the various Stores are just general "run of the mill" climbers and if you want specific varieties that's where the local Nurseries come in. Having said that I've been after Clematis "Mrs Bateman", without being in too much of a hurry, for a while and picked up two from Aldi a week or two ago....but at a higher price that £1.79p!!:WINK1:

They have some more mature Clematis in now for a fiver each - I bought a Montana rubens and a Montana grandiflora and they are both heavy with flowers :spinning:

Just gotta get dry enough weather to plant them out.

Our local Asda store has nothing of the above mentioned plants in, all they have is a few Magnolia stuck with the cut flowers for £6 each.

I did pop into Home Bargains though and buy a young Clematis Arabella for £1.79..:blue thumb:

Also on the bargain front, Wilkos are selling their fruit bushes for half price;, gooseberries, currants, raspberries, cranberries etc and some (especially the currants) still look very healthy too and they work out at approx £1.30 each :blue thumb:
