    Good afternoon everyone.....
I got in from work at 2pm...checked my cues....(they :frown: look a bit poorly)the 'girls' were walking round the garden soaking wet:doh:i wouldn't mind but there is plenty of shelter....the 'boys' including Mr Lolimac were staring at the 'lake'...(lawn)...out comes the pump again.... all the water gone in a blink of an eye but the rain is still falling:gaah:
Mr L poured us both a drink and just chilled out...i'll get tea ready shortly....in all quite a nice afternoon considering.....
Moyra, now there's nothing annoys me more than 'idiots' who take great delight in driving through the puddles intent on soaking folk through:nonofinger:
Shiney ,you make me laugh....loved your earlier posts.....you've brightened up a very wet miserable day:wub2:
Take care everyone and have a good evening:SUNsmile:

It's been warm sunshine for the last few hours with dark clouds looming in the distance. We've had a lovely walk to the village and back and I'm looking forward to our meal tonight.

I made a large pan of chicken soup the other day, so we'll start with that - with noodles in it. Then it's trout fillets grilled with lemon and dill butter, boiled Anya potatoes and a stir fry of mange-tout, fine beans and asparagus tips tossed in finely sliced onion with a hint of garlic, ginger and chilli. This will be followed by apple crumble. :dbgrtmb:

Cor how the other half live. Lol. Actually didn't do too bad ourselves yesterday. Had friends to lunch and had chicken breasts wrapped round with oak smoked bacon, chips and peas and a strawberry cheesecake and double cream to follow. Trouble is it was all too much for my tender stomach and I lived to regret it. So in future I shall eat only what I need rather than think I may offend my company if I do not do the dessert. Normally I wouldn't have eaten all the chicken either I would have picked and then decided Amber could have the chicken and the rest could go to recycling.

    Good afternoon everyone,
Moyra, you be careful of what you eat! We don't want you getting poorly :old: :wub2:.

The trout fillets were lovely and were only £5.50 per kg - on special . The mangetout and beans were also on special and Mrs Shiney got a giant bundle of asparagus for £1. Apples were from our garden (in the freezer). I tend to plan my meals around what's on special offer. I eat everything on my plate - but I'm a greedy guts :heehee:

I've done three hours of mowing and am taking a break. I want to finish all the mowing today, if I can. I want to pick a load of rhubarb to sell at the club tomorrow but I'll see how I feel. I find it harder to pick rhubarb than to do the mowing :hate-shocked:

    Enjoy the sunshine

Yes, Shiney I think it didn't suit my diabetes at all. Still I am glad that it came up and out of the way. Next time I shall desist in eating anything I know is not good for me. I wish I had done the lawns today but I got all the sheets, table cloths etc washed and dry instead. Maybe if we are lucky and tonights forecast of rain passes by I might get it done tomorrow if not there's still days to come. Hopefully dry ones.

    Good morning everyone,

Still busy here at the moment getting stuff ready for our walkabout down to Sunny  Somerset:snork: Sorry to read though that people have lost their lives in the flash floods and i heard yesterday and today on the radio that a caravan park that got flooded out when the town got flooded in 1997? has had to move all the residents to a diffreent location as the local river looks set to overflow and they are all kicking up a stink about it.They won't be saying that if they lost their lives now would they:eeew:

Shiney do you see the same art exhibits that you saw last year or are they different ones that your cousin takes you to see?

Loli,we had a swamp lawn the other year when we had torrential floods and my North border was under water which flowed down the garden and under the fence taking a lot of my compost mulch plus seeds with it onto the neighbours drive so they were probably not happy bunnies.:snork: When our elderly cat died as fast as Mr Kandy was digging the hole in which to put her in,it filled up with water and i said to him he couldn't put her in there or else she would drown:snork:

Moyra,i expect you are spending alot of time trying to get yourself and Amber dry with all this wet stuff,i know that our Tina always had to come first when she got muddy and wet or else she used to shake it all up the walls and us:biggrin:

Saw a nice spot of a Short Eared Owl when we were drivng along the road outside of our village on Sunday so raced home and got our cameras and got some photos of it as it sat in the hedge before it flew off.

Had a lovely sunny day yesterday but this mornin g we are back to normal weather.Rain rain and more rain:biggrin:

    Enjoy your day everyone:smile:

    Good morning Kandy and all,
I'd love to go to Somerset, when are you going Kandy...room for a little...ish one ?:blue thumb:
The rain is waiting in the wings by the look of the sky here:frown:...there has been some tragic stories on the news regarding all the flooding...it's awful:sad:

At the back of our garden i got a small summerhouse (last spring) ...i named it Myosotis lodge and i'm hoping to fill it with memories of all the things i love and don't want to forget...pictures,trinkets etc...round the edge of the area i planted lots of Forget-me-not plants that me and my old furry lad sowed before he died the year before....very few have survived the chooks:gaah:...so i bought some water forgetmenots yesterday to go in the little pond.....thats one of my jobs for today...plus i've had an idea of how to save my newly planted Delphiniums from certain death from you know who.....it consists of old hosepipe ,canes and garden netting.....i'm hopeing it will not look too out of place ....We'll see....
Wishing you all well and take extra care....the wind is getting up now...

    Good morning everyone,

Kandy, I hope you have a good holiday :dbgrtmb:.
My cousin never shows us the same paintings. There are thousands of them in each gallery and he chooses his theme and then takes us around to see a few. We normally see between 15 and 20 in the three hour tour and some of those may be grouped together in the same room. He makes it really interesting by telling us about the lives of the artists, the rivalries between them, the scandals (and there were a lot of them), the history and politics of the time, the reason for the paintings and the significance of the subjects. The whole thing comes to life because of the way he presents it.

It drizzled all through the night and there was some spectacular lightning. It's breezy but not raining at the moment and I may go out and pick some rhubarb to sell at the club this afternoon.

Keep well and have a great day

Morning All just back from the hospital for my blood test and urine sample. I had to tell them that I had fasted although it was not on the form but I was sure it should have been and she said yes you are right. Good. I said well I didn't want to have to come back.

Kandy, Yes I have a great big bath towel (dark blue) that I rub Amber down with, she enjoys it.

Shiney that is good of your cousin and I should imagine that is very interesting to have the run down on the artist along with seeing the pictures. Glad you got your lawns cut I am afraid mine will have to wait.

Lolli you must have fun having the two dogs to rub down from the wet....do you do the chooks as well?

    Have a good day all.:)

    Good morning everyone,

I was busy in the garden yesterday and guests for lunch. Got a lot done :dbgrtmb:.

Moyra, I don't think it will get that cold but there may be a touch of frost.

Although it's not raining it looks as though we might get some so I think I'll do some shopping and get a haircut.

We have an allium siculum in full bloom already , the lilac trees look ready to burst into flower and the tree peonies are showing just a bit of colour.

Keep well and have a great day
