Kandy, sorry to hear about your fall . Hope it gets better quickly.

Our pears and plums have also suffered this year.

We're back into drought conditions again and the plants are getting droopy. They haven't lifted our hosepipe ban and say they don't expect to do so this year. Fortunately, they are still letting me use mine. :dbgrtmb:

They keep forecasting rain but we don't seem to get it. Yesterday they had forecast rain for most of the day so it was sunny and hot from just before 5 a.m. until 8 p.m.

    Wish you better

It's a beautifull morning here there's not a cloud in this beautifull big blue sky:hate-shocked:

    Aloha Everyone,

WOO, you take it steady doing that concreting my dear not overdoing things.

Kandy, wondered where you had got to. That sounds painful I hope it continues to improve. Take it easy while doing gentle exercises to keep it moving. My back was killing me this morning but a walk round the green with Amber soon put it right or maybe it was the tramadol that eased it.

Loli, I do hope you are going to get some good weather and nothing gets in the way of your break away this year. This wet and dry weather seems to have got to our bones. Hope yours feels better soon too.

Shiney, that rain yesterday morning only lasted while I took Amber for her walk so there wasn't enough to send over to you. I too got the hose out and filled the water butts and then watered all the veggies.

Have a good day everyone. Aloha. :wub2:

      Aloha, woo and everyone,

What a wonderful sunflower :dbgrtmb:. Only two of our plants have survived the slugs and they have reached the enormous size of 10". Don't think they are doing very well :heehee:

I did some visiting of open gardens yesterday and bought one of the satnavs that we saw the day before - after I had done some research on which one to get for Mrs Shiney.

There was no point in getting one that has all the bells and whistles. Didn't want anything that had 'bluetooth capability' so it could be used as a mobile phone hands free or surf the internet :rolleyespink:. Just wanted something that would get her from A to B and simple to use.

I got one that also allows you to put it into 'walking mode' where you can take it from the car and use it to direct you whilst walking. So, for example, it can be used if taking the train up to London and it will be a guide map. It also has the additional capability of helping you find where you parked your car. If you've used it to get to somewhere where you can park your car and walk and then unhook it from the car and take it with you, it will remember where the car is and walk you back to it!

      Have a great day

      aloha

        Aloaha Everyone,

Oh WOO that is a beautiful sunflower what a lovely welcome to the thread.

That sat nav sounds just the ticket Shiney. I have never got one because I don't go anywhere except to yours where I would have needed it but I wonder if I had one like that whether it would encourage me to take to the roads a bit more....

Loli you are certainly busy with the baking today. I haven't done any serious cooking apart from dinners for ages. I used to cook Chocolate Victoria Sandwiches regularly filled with butter icing but since being diagnosed diabetic thought I had better not do them anymore take the temptation away from me.

Well have a lovely day everyone, Kandy and loli hope your shoulders and neck are on the mend. Take care all. Aloha:wub2:

Moyra, it would probably help you as I know you're computer savvy :dbgrtmb:. Mrs Shiney is not too good with computer type gadgets so tends to be nervous of using them. They're OK for her as long as she only uses the basic applications.

This is pretty good as it not only shows the route but talks you through it and tells you the names of the roads where you need to turn. Apparently (I haven't tested it yet) it also tells you what lanes to get into.

Thanks for highlighting it Shiney but which one is it? I used to be very tech minded back in my amatuer radio days but now I am very lazy. I have the simplest of mobile phones purely for contacting Steve in an emergency if I am out and get into trouble. I don't think I could use one of those blackberry things with all those apps. I think it is more a lack of interest in such things these days than anything else.

They seem to be very reasonably priced, I always thought they were in excess of £100 or more.

I got her the Garmin 25 15 'sat nav'. It cost £130 but that was because I wanted the 'walk' facility.

The Gar min 50 is on offer in a number of stores at the moment for £80. It has a large screen which makes it easier to see and also talks you through the route (I think all makes do that now). These are straight forward satnavs and not mobil e phones.

I'll have a look at them again. Don't know whether I can justify getting one, would be useful to have BUT would I use it is more to the point. I get these ideas that I would like to do this and that and then when push comes to shove my aggraphobia wins out and I don't do it. I have to care about something really strongly before I will fight it. Like coming to yours that day. Oh well I am turning this thing off for the evening.

        Have a pleasant evening everyone.
