      Hi All

Had a good check of all the plants in the greenhouse , as I looked at 3 of my heuchera looked very wilted , I thought just need a drink to tide them over and as I picked up the plant Vine weevil had chewed through the tops and they fell onto the floor , so had to re plant what was viable but they do re root easily and gave the cuttings a haircut and spread the old compost in the middle of the lawn very thinly and the robin had a tasty lunch.
Plus checked the bottom of every pot and removed all slugs to be honest more than I expected the robin was waiting outside as they got thrown on to the lawn as well.

Digging! I'm creating a new flowerbed from an overgrown patch so first had to clear all the weeds and briars. Now digging out millions of roots. It really is congested with them so will take ages to make sure they're all out. Ground isn't as heavy as I'd thought it would be but it's still hard going.

Day set aside today for garden sorting. I've been hoeing weeds, can't believe I'm doing this in January but it's so mild and so far frost-free. Day lilies are up about 4 inches and the daffs look keen as well. Despite all the leaves being off the deciduous trees hereabouts and demonic raking and disposing, still piles of sodden leaves appear, how does this happen.
I think some lazy begger has been at my shed the last few months and turned it into a bomb site, bit of a disgrace really, so trying to get to grips with that so make it habitable again.
Also done some repairs on my water butt drainage pipes.

                Jobs for 2014... too many!,
replant the area damaged by fire, build shed for fish quarantine pond, maybe rebuild existing garden shed to be something more solid, lay new patio by house, and create new beds along side it where previously things were in pots, maybe change the front garden.... and a bunch of stuff yet to be decided!

Two months on and I finally made it into my sunny, dry, windless garden today. :yes:Tackled the weeds in my rose bed, tidied up the two tier bed in my back garden and covered part of it with some spent potting compost. I then cleaned my car up, blasted birds!

It looks like I've lost the young Sambucus I planted last year. :doh:Daffs are up and surprisingly so are my chives. :)

Started on replacement of a 5.25 x 1.6 metre section of fence that the gales blew down. It was put up about 11 years ago while we both were still working and we got a man in to do it. Reckon he used cheap untreated posts as they've rotted and the rails and panels are going the same way.
Replacement will have treated posts in steel post spikes set in concrete so should last a bit longer.

Yes the chives are definitely on the move here as well. what a great day! Raked leaves, tidied pots, trimmed ivy, twined a lot of Montana rosa around the arch, collected a bucket of broken pots for drainage, and picked sprouts and leeks.

Walked round, took a few photos, came back in, made a cuppa :)

Thinking of going to see the Winter Garden at Anglesey Abbey this afternoon.

After a grey start to the day the sun came out so I spent a couple of hours in the garden. I knew the sun was there but seeing as my garden has a northern aspect, none shone on me so it was quite chilly and damp out there. I couldn't help being envious of the gardens at the back of mine as they were bathed in sunshine! I brushed up yet more leaves, tidied and weeded all of my pots and planters, cleaned the bird feeding area and tried to make my couple of raised beds a bit more cat proof. Then I came inside for some fresh soup with soft doughy bread and a mug of tea. :)
