      Freddy

I'd not heard of Steve Vai before this video, he's not bad, but to me hasn't got the polish of Satriani who's a great guitarist. I came face to face with Rick Wakeman in Douglas a number of years ago and he and his son used to run a small studio in Peel. Wakeman moved back to the mainland after his marriage broke down.

Sorry, don't like BBM, sounds like a cross between a strangled Tom Jones and Jimi Hendrix.

Nope, sorry Freddy they're not hitting the spot! Now Cream is a whole different ball game. ;) Just for the record, I don't like 'sound alikes' and tribute bands, it's got to be the real thing or nothing.

But, there are two Cream members in the band?

Sorry Freddy, you're not convincing me, the sound is different. :)

I'm back from my wanderings so I can bore you with some oldies :heehee:

To add to the drumming sessions, here's one of Sammy Davis Jr. He could play over a dozen musical instruments apart from dancing and singing.

A lot of you will remember the lovely voice of Karen Carpenter but she was also a drummer.

She comes into this clip from about 1.20 minutes, starts of slowly and builds up from there. For such a tiny person she had a lot of energy!

Then, of course, we have The Dave Brubeck Quartet with Take Five.

Dancing and singing are musical instruments? Who knew! :heehee:

Zigs, to a certain extent, that reminds me a bit of the Beatles  Yeah, I know it's supposed to be more like The Who :noidea: :heehee:

Here's something that's a bit out of character.

It's not quite Uriah Heep's normal rock.

The song was written by folk singers and writers Fred Hellerman and Fran Minkoff as an anti-war song. It has, variously, been said to be about the American Civil War, WWII and, as they thought at the time, WWIII. Although it was written earlier, the first recording was in May 1963 by Harry Belafonte, quickly followed by Judy Collins in Dec and the Weavers (Fred was a member of the group) in the same month.

It has been covered by a lot of folk singers and pop bands.

Uriah Heep recorded it in 1970 but performed it at many gigs.

Uriah Heep, I'd forgotten about them! I saw a live gig of theirs when I was in my teens somewhere in Middlesex, they were the support band for Black Sabbath that evening. :)

Uriah Heep, put me in mind of Van Der Graaf Generator, which put me in mind of Peter Hammill (the singer)...herewith...

On the album, all the tracks are linked, so the above is only a flavour...
