Years ago, while working in the Slate quarry, I heard a tourist asking his mates what Slate was, none of them knew so I was ready for the question when he asked,

"Excuse me Lad, what exactly is Slate?"

I replied,

"It's a low grade regionally metamorphosed Mudstone."

"Oh aye, you don't make it here then?"

"Yes, actually we've got a shed up the top where the lads make it out of waste from the brewery industry."

He seemed happy with that answer and went away contented

what flavor is the slate, as different brewerys has different waste, the cows go mad of the waste from Guinness factory

 

Depends what shed they're making it in.
