    Good morning Folks,

Thanks M did manage to get out with the scooter with Amber yesterday so she had a good run as well as her two smaller walks on the green.

Lili, you tire me out with all your hard work. Must feel nice to get it all done though.

Hope everyone else is ok this morning, have a good day all, stay safe and
    God bless. :wub2:

      Aloha everyone,

Adendoll, good luck with the op :blue thumb:

Moyra, I hope yesterday turned out good enough for you to take Amber for a big walk. Our early morning was a bit drizzly but it soon cleared up. There's been a little drizzle again in the early hours but it will be fine shortly.

"M", it seems as though you'll soon have your place licked into shape.

I hope all of you are able to do all the jobs you want to today and have Woo's Bouncability and Zestability in abundance. :)

My foot is still causing me lots of problems but I'm not letting it stop me doing things :nonofinger:. Mrs Shiney has to put new dressings on each day but it's not as bad as it was. Unfortunately, as some areas start to clear I then get new outbreaks .

I got a lot of work done in the garden yesterday. Started on making the new paved path but didn't like the look of it. We've removed the pretty stepping stones from the driveway to the front door and replaced them with rectangular slabs. The idea was to do away with all the awkward trimming of grass around the edges of the old paving. I had to have the lawn around the old ones cut away from them because my feet are too big! :hate-shocked:

When I first laid them down, many years ago, the idea was to have them sunken in the lawn and no need for edges. The trouble was, after having laid them, we found that my size 12's were too big to fit on the stones and were turning the edges of the lawn around them in to mud patches in wet weather. So I had to cut out approx. 2" around each of them. This has become very awkward for me to keep trimmed. Hence the change of path.
      P1070500.JPG

So we (I) decided to make a solid path in its place and remove all the lawn between the path and the flower bed - also an awkward bit for mowing. When I laid the slabs in a solid line they looked awful! So I had to apply Plan B. (There had only been Plan A up to that moment :heehee:.)

I spaced the slabs out, patched in some of the lawn I'd taken away and I hope I will just be able to mow over it.

      P1210855.JPG

      I now have Plans C and D.

Plan C is to buy some metal lawn edging to stop the slabs moving into the flower bed. I'll then be able to take some of the soil away from the edge of the bed so that there won't be much mud splashing.

Plan D is a contingency plan. If the lawn between the slabs is too much of a nuisance I'll remove it, put a small amount of cement (sunken) in its place and embed some shingle/stones in it.

I also, with the help of Michael, dug out 20 x 70 litre compost bags full of horse manure from a local farm. After that I did a little pressure hosing.

Today, hopefully, I'll buy the edging, get my hair cut, do some shopping, do some more pressure hosing and get a lot of paperwork done.

      Have a great day

      Aloha!

        Good morning everyone,

"M"...Now the fences are up that'll mean Ozzy can wander around unsupervised ,that's good, saves you having to keep getting the lead out every time he wants the 'gents':blue thumb:....Your garden is going to be lovely:dancy: Hope the chooks are all settled in too:chicken:

Lili....My kitchen cupboards could do with a good sort out:rolleyespink: I'm sure there will be lots of things in them I'd forgotten about:doh:I keep waiting for a rainy day to keep me indoors to get on with those jobs but it just won't rain.....shame:biggrin:

Shiney...Great job with the path:blue thumb:that should make cutting the lawn easier.Wishing that foot well:dbgrtmb:

My neck is still giving me gyp...If I'd got up an hour earlier it would have been cured but instead I spent another hour wrestling with the pillows and set it off again:doh:I shouldn't have gone to work on Monday but I do silly tricks like that plus I also shouldn't have been dragging compost around either, welllll it's only a two minute job:rolleyespink::biggrin:

I'm on guard this morning because, I can't be certain but I'm sure I spotted a 'mouses Uncle' gazing longingly into the chicken run:nonofinger: Oh no you don't Mr:paladin:

Take it easy everyone and take care:SUNsmile:

I suppose it depends on the size of the lead weights! :heehee:

                    Good morning all,

Shiney, I am sorry you are still suffering with that foot of yours. I wonder why it keeps breaking out. It would seem it needs further investigation. I like what you have done in the front garden.

Loli, It is a shame about your neck giving you so much trouble. I hope that clears up soon. Is Daisy ok now?

                    Adendoll, wish you well soon.

WOO, you sound as though you are nearly back to 100% bouncibility, I do hope so.

Have a lovely day everyone, Stay safe and well. God Bless.:wub2:

Aloha Woo, Moyra and everyone :)

Today will be a wonderful day, so enjoy it :hapydancsmil:

Having looked at lawn edging (Plan C above) I have moved to Plan C (2) :heehee:. The edging is not really suitable for what I want so I'm going to try and find a wrought iron company locally than can let me have some 12" offcuts of small angle iron (or similar) that I can hammer into the ground to stop the slabs moving.

Plan C (3) will be buying the iron at B&Q (they have it in stock) and finding someone who can cut the 1 metre lengths for me. There's always a way to get things done :blue thumb:

Keep well and have a great day

Remember: 87.3% of all statistics are made up! :loll:

                      Aloha!

                          Loli, thanks :blue thumb:

Plan C (4) was thought of but I don't think it will look right alongside a non-continuous path. Also, the edging will need bedding in cement. Too much faffing around for me! :heehee:

If I can get the iron (shouldn't be too difficult) it will be virtually invisible. I'll hammer it straight into the ground and leave just a half inch above ground to hold the slab. This will be below the edge of the slab and I can then run the mower along the slabs.

                              Morning everyone,:)

Poking my head in the door to say hi:hapfeet:...its been crazy busy here, and I feel bad I haven't been on in ages.

I cant believe that the summer flew by and we are now into Fall:autlvs:. My gardens are done here, we've had a few frosts and that took care of it, which was fine with me because the whole growing season was a bust:gaah:!! The more people I talk too, the more I realize that it was the "norm" for pretty much everyone.:gaah:

Tomorrow is a HUGE day here....its Daniel's 1st birthday:partytime:.....we are planning a party of just close family and friends for his special day. I cant believe that my wee grandson is a year:blue thumb:...so I am off to do some shopping and have some laundry on that I need to transfer to the dryer...

                              Enjoy your day everyone.:)
