What is name of this plant

    Hi
    Does anyone know

    • Name of this plant
    • Does it flower every year or does it just flower for one season and then die
    • If flower every year is it suitable to plant in ground/flower bed or is better suited to a pot/container?
    • What is the flowering season/months?
    • Anything special need to be aware off if transplanting into ground
    I have it in container at present but it getting too big and was going to transplant it into ground if it seasons every year

      Its a very well grown "Osteospermum"

      Great for pots

      Best kept in the greenhouse over winter its a slightly hardy but wont take minus freezing it will perish

      Easy to take some cuttings
      Flowers from May till the 1st frost if you dead head and keep well fed and watered , like full sun

        Good evening @Passport1 yes "Osteospermum"(Cape Daisy) :smile:

        Yours looks like Cape Daisy"Trade Winds"
        I have several in my borders and leave them where they are over winter,treating them as tender perennials and they are 3 years old this year.the flowers open in full sun and close in the evening,I have never transplanted them as I always plant straight in to the ground:smile:

          Hi @Spruce yes my friend they are in a relatively sheltered spot close to a wall which is frost free,hang on I will ask @Passport1 their location;) if its Iceland or Siberia I have egg on my face and not for the first time I may add:heehee:

                That type of Osteospermum has never survived a winter in my garden.
                Only ever treated it as a summer bedding plant.

                  I'm based in Dublin
                  Sounds like though this plant isn't really suited for planting into ground as probably wouldn't survive winter frosts and best enjoyed as potted plant :-)

                    Dublin you say, if you can keep it a bit dry it might stand a good chance to overwinter outside.
