I sowed two large pots earlier this year from a tub of mixed seed which I bought in Lidl for 1.99 last year.

I brought them on in the house until it was warm enough to put them out in the greenhouse and then in the gardenl

What surprises I have had with the selection of plants which have come up :yess:

    Dahlias
    Cornflowers
    Corn cockle
    Marigolds
    Tagetes
    Allysum
    Dill
Sweetpea and nasturtium (which I pricked out and potted up separately)
    Love in a mist
...and more which I don't recognise

I didn't prick them out, except for the sweetpea and nasturtium, just left the strongest to fight their way to maturity. I think these are the plants I have probably had the most satisfaction from this summer (...oops did I say summer).

I still have almost a full tub of seeds left so I can't wait until next year to repeat the exercise.:fingerdrum: I was looking at the contents yesterday and have never seen so many different types of seeds.

It's very satisfying when you eventually see what comes up. Just hope it isn't weeds. :)

You're right, Sally, it's the "surprises" that grow in your garden that can give you the most pleasure. I let my annuals and herbaceous plants seed in the borders and then spend the following Spring getting excited about all of the thousands of green shoots pushing out of the soil wondering what they're going to be.:hapfeet::yahoo::scratch::D
