i planted 2 clematis today ,these clematis have 5 support canes. 4 each side on a slant like a tepee, and 1 support cane in the middle. i have purchased clematis before but the ones i have previously purchased had only one support cane.
the question i would like to ask (hoping its not stupid) when do i remove the support canes or do i remove the support canes:scratch:. the clematis have been planted in large pots to grow up a trellis. well thats the plan :skp: thank you music

Kind of difficult to answer without knowing more about the trellis Music. But in general I'd say that you should only require cane support until the clematis grabs hold of the trellis. Personally I'd use a single small cane on each plant and leave it in place as it would prevent the base shoots being broken or dislodged.
