    The age old cat problem:(

I have a humane solution that seems to be very effective, that I figured out by chance. Some people would find it a bit gross though.

Oh dear. Not felines again. Actually, as I've discovered fairly recently, foxes are a darn sight more destructive and cats often get blamed for their activities. Anyway, one thing which is highly effective if you want to protect newly planted/seeded areas from cats is to place lots of twigs - rose prunings are ideal - in flowerbeds, planters etc. If you have a large enough space, devote a far away corner to a 'sacrificial' bit of soil which is well dug and sifted. Cats will always choose luxury facilities over more basic affairs. I know this may seem like giving in to terrorism but in the end it's probably better to accept that all cats are born knowing that they are the masters and we are the servants.

The only sure way you'll have of keeping them out of the garden is a dog. But I'm not suggesting you go get one unless you're a dog lover.

I lost my old dog a few years ago and have been plagued with the local cats ever since. They're a menace! Good luck!

I used to have the same problem in my last garden. It was a persistent problem. Then quite by chance I was in the garden having a smoke one night and I decided I was busting for a pee. My wife was in the bath, so I took a leak in a discrete corner of the garden. A repeat incident happened a couple of days later. Then after a few days I realised that I didn't seem to be having cat problems anymore, so about once a week if I'm in the garden at night when nature calls, I just take a leak in a discrete corner. I've never had the cat problem since. I think I've inadvertantly 'marked my territory'.

I hope you scratched the soil up first and then covered it up, Cluelss!!??

I've got this mental picture now of thousands of Gardeners Corner members sneaking out into the dark garden to have a quick pee to see if it works!

You should do it on the compost heap. It works wonders for the compost :dbgrtmb: :heehee:. Don't know whether it keeps the cats away  :loll:

Here are a few more ideas...
