Hedge

    Hi folks. What I'd like are suggestions as to what I could use for a hedge. The hedge will need to be around 6ft tall and evergreen with small-ish leaves. Also it needs to be something that doesn't mind being clipped. Flowers would be a bonus, but not important. The hedge will get full sun from mid-day onwards (if that helps). Cheers...freddy.

    I can only think of leylandi that is evergreen :scratch: A nice golden one perhaps though they do need maintaining at your desired height. Not everyone's cup of tea though

    Freddy, Escalonia springs to mind. Either red or white flowers. It certainly doesnt mind being clipped.

    :lol:, in my defence - I did say it wasn't every ones cup of tea. I was trying to think of evergreen. :doh: I'm off to look up what escallonia is......

    Ha, I have that in my front hedge and it is superbly pretty. Good idea, much better than Leylandi

    Totally agree with Paul here, Freddy. Escallonia, evergreen, small leaved and a long flowering period.:thumb: E, Apple Blossom, is the best.

    Another option would be Golden Private.........
    A pretty good doer,lots of character and you determin the size.

    Dai. I looked at 'apple blossom'. It SEEMS that it only grows to 3ft :(
