...What shrubs, plants have you seen or grown as a standard?; we've all seen standard fuschias, hollys etc, but what more unusual standards have anyone seen or tried?

The reason I ask is firstly out of curiosity and also I have a number of cuttings growing well from a variegated philadelphus and I fancy trying to grow one as a standard for a bit of fun :thumb:

In the past I've grown a buddleia standard which my aunty loved so much she bought it off me :thumb:, I've also grown the usual fuschias and I have seen standard hardy hibiscus, sambucus and wisterias.

    Hi

Standard & half standard I know their is actual height to differ betwen them both ?.

I grow hibiscus two colours red & blue , Viburnum opulus both grafted. and a couple of holies ranging from 12 inches to 4 feet high lolipop style . And a maple that has shrimp pink leaves but I have forgotten the variety, Kogi no mi cherry tree stem is 3 foot on this but it is huge now so that part is slowly disapearing.
    Nealy forgot two bay trees
I had a thing about this style for about 5 years so I went a bit mad nothing new to me .
