@redstar your own president has removed women's right to manage their own bodies and fertility. It's about control. If he and his ilk were really pro-life they would be providing decent maternity care for free to all women and girls, plus nursery places and childcare followed by decent schooling. Instead, they are forcing girls of 13 to carry to term babies conceived in rape, regardless of the risk to the physical and mental health of the girls. Same goes for older victims of rape and abuse and women whose health will be materially harmed by pregnancy. He's also devised a scheme to reduce US female voting power. So much to be proud of:
I don't think A's arrest was that dramatic and doubt it was done deliberately on his birthday either. If he couldn't be persuaded to voluntarily assist in the investigation, presumably the police had no other option than to take the decision to arrest him. Even had he not been stripped of his royal title, he should be treated no differently than any other suspect. I doubt it will ever really be known as to whether he engaged in sexual relations with a minor or without consent. More to do with being close friends with someone known to have consistently broken the law re supplying sex services and financial issues.
Apparently bail means they have to put a time limit on things, by just letting him go it can last for years, or so someone was saying on TV this morning.
You really do not know? LOL. Truly do not want to be blunt. its about rarity of supply versus, the over abundance of supply.
I'm pretty disconnected on the whole , but I switched on the TV briefly this morning and it was either curling (again ) or wall-to-wall Andrew, during which I learned he was interviewed in Aylesbury, which I was fairly certain is not in Norfolk. Turns out it is in Buckinghamshire, not Surrey.
That is almost certainly more to do with what they perceive to be evidence was found (Windsor) as that falls under Surrey's patch. The coppers over at Sandringham have zero involvement. Similarly, if you get caught speeding in Cumbria, but live in Surrey, you have to attend the speed awareness course provided by Cumbria.
Thing is, a vacuum has been created to allow that sort of nonsense in - for a couple of decades at least, young men have been made to feel as though there is something wrong with them because they like cars or enjoy football etc - - screams of 'toxic masculinity' etc when they gravitate toward having a muscular car or bike, or get themselves really fit in a gym... if you've been belittled and degraded sufficiently by society and then someone comes along who tells you that it is OK to feel the way that you do, you'll buy into it, even if their version is somewhat more extreme. We spend far too much time trying to pigeon-hole everyone and denigrating them when they don't 'fit', is it any wonder they look elsewhere?
We don't know that was the case. I am happy for him to be treated like any other person. Would they arrest any other person when they clearly did not have enough to charge them though? And if there is not enough evidence in the Epstein files, what could they possibly hope to find through searches? I can't see him "keeping records" and their email exchanges are already out there. The relish with which the BBC presenters were reporting yesterday was distasteful, IMV, as is sending cameras to lurk outside Buck House today. For what purpose?
Half eight in the morning isn't exactly a dawn raid - for much of the country it is the start of their working day, for some of us, it is almost lunchtime. What makes his birthday any more special than anyone else's? If they were going to arrest you for something, I doubt very much that they'd care a jot if if was your birthday.
There are many more they need to be looking at in relation to Mandelson too - not least, Gordon Brown who has suddenly decided to release various bits of information to the police. Why sit on them for so many years?
