    Hi all,

I know all weeds are ignoring but does anyone have any suggestions for this. It turns purple after a while with purple stems and I seem to spend every weekend clearing it....only for it to come back.

    Many thanks

It could be oxalis, I tend to get it in all my pots.
Virtually impossible to get rid of.

Easy to pull out or hoe but will always come back. There are worse weeds and if you miss a few, the flowers are pretty.

Yep relentless. Beds were clear before I went on holiday, back 10 days later and I swear it was laughing at me and covered again

    Hi @Stuarta99 ,
you have some nice biodiversity there.

To me, the orange rectangle is Oxalis as Pete said, impossible to eradicate but quite pretty in fact :)

The blue rectangle looks like Ground Elder, again a tough guy.

The yellow circle is that common one I can't name

The Oxalis has tiny microscopic bulbils on the roots so pulling it out just spreads it. We have virtually eradicated it from the garden with a flame gun before it flowers. The seed pods explode and then you are back to the beginning.

If you can get between existing plants I'd zap it with weedkiller, you probably wont totally eradicate it but it would set it back longer than a week.

So sounds like by me pulling them out has actually made them spread. Just read a post on gardners world just to cover with something like cardboard then bark. Or use heavy grade matting to block the light for a couple of years then pull out.

We do normally bark but didn't refresh this year so maybe that hasn't helped and the matting I guess has probably detoriated

The floor in our greenhouse was covered (by the previous owners not me, I hate the stuff) with black plastic and 2 inches of gravel on top of that. The whole floor when we arrived was smothered in the Oxalis, growing on top of the plastic. The post you read is very misleading, it grows on and roots through any covering.
By the way it is classed as the most pernicious and all pervading weed, it is now found on every continent, except Antarctica.
