    Hi

I have a 'standard' (?) rose in a pot (pic attached so you can see the type). It's crawling with ants and I've noticed some of the leaves look nibbled.

    What should I do?

And, out of interest, when should I expect to see it flower?

    Thanks

Hi Roger, well this is only my opinion,:)
1.I think its to near the wall:thmb:
2.It could have done with the center pruned out to let the air circulate round the Rose:thmb: (but not now)
3.It looks very dry in the Pot:thmb:
4.A gentle spray with your hose pipe to wash the ants off:thmb:
5.Then a spray with some washing up liquid and water over the leaves:thmb:
6.A larger Pot in the Autumn:thmb:

Lets hope that the Ants nest is not in the Pot because that's another serious problem we must tend to if it is:)

Well Roger, roses usually start flowering in June - and if you're lucky you will still be getting the odd one at Christmas.

Ants - no expert here - I usually find they are not doing any harm.
However this year I found a pot of violas looking really sick and on closer inspection the place was crawling with ants. Maybe they were the problem - maybe not.

I gave the area a dusting with ant powder - I hate doing it - and the violas do seem to have recovered.

If you think the ants are the problem with your rose then you could try ant powder - if you don't mind killing thousands of ants.
