Christine Walkden

Yesterday we went to the Christmas afternoon tea of our local U3A. There were something over 350 of us (total membership - 1300+) and the guest speaker was Christine Walkden.

I've never seen her on TV, or wandering around town (she lives just down the road) but she certainly doesn't look like the typical TV personality.

She gave us a 45 minute talk on how she ended up in the media and her problems along the way. They kept trying to change her image (hair, makeup, clothes etc) and having an image consultant working on her. She told them right from the start that it wouldn't work :hehe: and she won out in the end. :thumb:

Yes I also enjoyed her TV programmes immensely, comparable with the great Geoff Hamilton style

 

I didn't immediately recall her name Shiney, but when I googled her I do remember seeing her on the telly on "Christine's Garden" - I saw it once or twice and enjoyed her down to earth practical manner.
