    Hello there!

I was wondering if anyone could help me, I have a very large garden, and i use a ride on lawnmower to cut the grass.

I was cutting the grass today because it is beautiful here in n.ireland and a thought came over me. Last year we made a special area for dumping and collecting all the grasscuttings, and it has all now compacted and turned into i suppose what you would call compost.

I just wanted to know wether this was useful enough to give away or sell or something, my gran used to talk about compost and it being good got the garden and that but im not very green fingered, i just like the grass being neat and tidy.

I imagine this compost is totally organic because wedont use any sprays or anything, its all growing really naturally.

Looking forward to seeing what you think! :)

    -P

Grass compost is good as a soil conditioner but doesn't have an enormous amount of nutrition in it. Any gardener would find it useful but I don't think it has much monetary value. Grass compost with other plant matter put in amongst it makes better compost.

Let it rot down for a couple of years and then spread it on the surface of your flower beds in the autumn. It will improve the soil and the worms will take down into the soil.

Keen gardeners can also usually pick up horse manure free of charge from stables.
