I'm looking to clear and level the ground by the fence for my greenhouse (which I am yet to procure) can anyone advise on how I would go about it? I don't do DIY full stop and I hate levelling soil and so avoid it like the plague:redface:

      1) First of all, it looks like it could be a tad too shady in that corner.

      2) Skim off vegetation/roots

      3) Bang some timber pegs in at the corners (and possibly intermediates on long sides)

Using a length of timber that will stretch between the pegs (add more pegs if required), together with a spirit level either:

4a) Excavate a bit around the pegs and knock them down so the tops are at the required paving level. You will need something (like a small, vertical piece of timber batten) under each end of your timber straightedge to do this.

4b) Attach (screw/nail) some cross pieces to the pegs either at the required paving level, or an indentical, higher level at each point.

      Then:

      5) Using a suitable straight length of timber resting on either tops of levelled pegs, or on levelled x-pieces (and measuring down to the correct level), trim the ground level beneath.

      Does that make sense?

      I think so Scrungee:scratch:

as to it being shady, the only part of the garden that isn't shady is next to the bordering garden and they have kids who like to play football (and their not very good:lunapic 130165696578242 5:) so I wanted to try and keep it away from that side I think it will brighten up substantially when someone (I've no idea who:whistle: ) chops down all the willow coming over the fence
