I bought two star jasmines from hayloft earlier in the year. Excellent plants.
One was put in partial shade and is doing great. The other one has a bit more light but it's near an old concrete post foundation. It's staying alive and growing a bit but nothing like the other one.
It has plenty of space for roots in other directions and I water and fertilise it away from the post to try to encourage it to root away from the post. Is there something wrong with the situation or might it be a slow developer?
Another question. Even in garden centres with TJs covered in blossom, I can't smell a thing. I asked a friend who was with me to have a sniff. She couldn't smell owt either. Is it us?

The scent is sometimes quite faint during the day but gets much stronger as dusk falls, so I guess it's moths that mostly pollinate them.
I had one growing on a fence below my bedroom window and sometimes the scent in my bedroom at night was overpowering.

I had one by the front door for several years. I never noticed a smell of any kind from it. One day it turned up its toes. It wasn’t missed.
