    Its alright I Googled it;)

Brussels sprouts—the variety of cabbage with a stout stem and a budlike head of tightly folded leaves—are named after the city of Brussels. The modern version of the plant was originally grown primarily in the area of Northern Europe now known as Belgium, of which Brussels is the capital. In the name of the cabbage, Brussels is usually capitalized like the name of the city, though some publications don’t capitalize it.

      Morning early people :)

I spell all vegetables with a capital, but then I missed spelling at school on account of being ill that year.

In fact, I missed most of school come to think of it:doh:

Flooded out of the workshop again  At least it's stopped raining for now. Most of Dorset is on flood alert, but the river hasn't burst its banks again yet :fingers crossed:

Have a good day everyone and don't forget your wellies :)

Enjoy yourselves today, I hope you all get to see the sunshine. :grphg:

          Morning all, :spinning:

Not been at roll call for a few days, been poorly with some tummy problem since Wednesday.:sick0026:

All the usual with a bad tummy, had a fever and dizzy spells. :help: Finally feel a bit
          'normal' today. :th scifD36:

Trying to get some normality to the bungalow today, though it's slowly getting harder
to do as my Fibromyalgia is really taking hold :mute:

Well the rain finally stopped, it really is the pits.

Still, hope everyone has a good Sunday. :imphrt:

Good afternoon fellow GC WW'ers :spinning:

Lovely sunshine today, but a nippy wind :th scifD36:

@wiseowl - re: X's in sprouts ... moyra and shiney are both right that, traditionally, it was the thing to do. However, the modern school of thought is ... it doesn't really make much difference. I don't bother and I steam mine and they come out just as well. Maybe you could experiment with both methods and see which way you prefer for your particular tastes?

@Beckie76 Farm shop, you say? :roflol: I'll guarantee there will be loads of stuff you suddenly realise you *need* :loll:

@liliana - ouchie, sorry to hear you've been below par. Hope you are on the mend :grphg:

@Zigs - :fingers crossed: the banks hold!

Healing vibes for all who need them and miles of smiles for all xxMxx :spinning:

                Aloha everyone,

It also depends on whether you use the old method of adding bicarb when they start to boil. It helps keep the colour looking good, gets them cooked a little quicker but leeches out more of the Vitamin C.

I may try and do just a little bit of gardening today but I'll see how the forecasted high winds go. We've too many big trees to be able to work safely in the garden in high winds.

                @liliana wish you better. :grphg:

@Zigs according to what I've been seeing of the weather it looks as though you had better hunker down in the bunker! :hate-shocked: :blue thumb: Tie the caravan down first.

Keep well and have a great day

                Aloha!

                      Morning early people :)

Bit of a battering overnight, had to step over a kayak to get out of the van.

Floods aren't as bad as expected with the torrential rain we've had though :phew:

Have a good day everyone and don't jump :hate-shocked:

                        Good Morning,

Chilly & bright here, we seem to have missed the strong wind thus far, I guess they will reach us later on in the day.

Hugs to you @liliana, I hope the doc can help hubby. Pleased to hear you are feeling better :blue thumb:

@Zigs perhaps the Kayak would look nice planted up! :heehee:

Nothing else for me to report, thought I'd daydream about gardening at work today .

Stay in & get cuddled up by the heater @moyra :coffee:

                          Morning all,

Sorry I've been MIA here the past few days, its been really busy!!

Its been gorgeous here too the past few days, so much so that yesterday I was able to pick up doggy doo, something that I've never been able to do here in February!!

I'm home today, but have some errands to do, as well as washing the truck and vacuuming it out.

Still no baby for Natalie, although her actual due date isn't until the 21st...so its a waiting game for now.

My MIL goes in for hip replacement surgery this Thursday, and Kait and Chris are home for the weekend, so another busy week and weekend coming up. I think Brad is closing the shop and giving us all a day off, and next Monday is a holiday here, so we get a 4 day weekend....cant wait!!

I'm off to get some things done......so enjoy your day.

                                Aloha everyone,

@wiseowl Owl Flu can be very debilitating so you need to take things easy. I wish you better :grphg:.

Another funeral to go to today

Otherwise, all is well in Shineyland :blue thumb:

I may get a little bit of gardening in before going to the funeral, then I shall need to open up the bridge club in the afternoon, a tough bridge league match in London in the evening and I'll treat myself to a shopping visit to an all night deli/bakers on the way home, but should be home by 1 a.m. Some lovely breads and goodies for the freezer. :hapydancsmil:

Keep well and have a great day

                                Aloha!
