Thanks everyone for your support :)

We went out shopping again today as mum wants to do the flowers for the funeral herself (she used to work in a florists and she made my wedding bouquet, everyones button holes and everything else) so we got that stuff and we went along to our local Dobbies garden centre - discovered they have some plants on sale, so, as you do, we took advantage of the half price plants and ended up spending £40 - she's going to show my how to split pots up so we can get more then one plant out of things, so we can divide plants up between my garden and mums :)

Off out to a Friday car boot sale tomorrow and then we're going to the cemetary to clean the grave up and leave some flowers for grandad and the other family members buried where nan will be joining them (the funeral is yet to be arranged as all the paperwork hasn't been done yet, so we're looking at after the bank holiday weekend.)

Your garden is coming on so well, and so quickly! :gnthb:

Sorry about your Nan, perhaps you could choose a special plant to add to your garden in her memory?

    Heya everyone,

Sorry for not posting for a few days, been busy lately - was working 3 days last week and then I came back down to Brum on Friday - we've made a good start on clearing Nan's house and scrubbing everything clean.

My seedlings came down here with me (5 on the back seats of my car and 2 on the parcel shelf and some more in the footwell in the back - they are all doing really well, but thought I best bring them with me as they wouldn't be watered for a good few days and I don't really want to loose them, or do I trust my father in law to water them well - he's no gardener :hehe:

Went to a few car boot sales today and brought a big bag of plant pots for 50p, so I've now got enough to transfer my seedlings into when they are bigger :)

Nan's funeral is on Thursday and her ashes are being buried on Monday, so I won't get chance to go to many places for plants, apart from some more car boot sales next Sunday :)

I've brought a couple more things for the garden, some wooden planters with trellis attached, to go on the raised patio, a decorative 3 tier pot holder, some shears and I can't remember what else

I'm currently desiging the plaque to go on the bench, which I am yet to buy, but it gives me something to do :)

    Hugs to all,

    Jen

PS - Before I left Liverpool on Friday, I checked the Clematis which I thought I'd lost and I'm pleased to let you know, it has a good few new shoots on it, so it should be ok :yho:

    Heya everyone,

Just a quick update before I have to leave for work :(

I returned from Birmingham last Monday evening and as we had rain for most of last week, I couldn't do as much as I'd wanted outside. I've transplanted most of my seedlings now, just a couple more trays to do now, (my sweetpeas are doing really well and I found some I'd brought in a pot yesterday which really need splitting up) and over the weekend my brother came to visit, so we went into St Helens and I used his Argos staff discount when I brought myself a lawnmower and the bench I wanted :D

Sunday night me and my brother measured up for the raised beds my dad is making and I'm looking into a veggie patch.

Will post the new pics later on, I've gotta be going now (taking a gardening book thought to keep my mind active - work isn't half boring!!!)

    Hugs to all,

    Jen

    Heya,

The bench and lawnmower I got are these ones:

    http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/6502832/Trail/searchtext>SIENNA+BENCH.htm

    http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/7303504/c_1/1|category_root|Garden+and+DIY|12107492/c_2/2|cat_12107492|Lawnmowers|12107719/c_3/3|cat_12107719|Rotary+mowers|12107724.htm

My bench at the moment is being used to store plants on, and its covered in a garden sheet, but here, you can just see the side (and all my plants and rain water collecting tubs - the big black big is almost full now)

Evidence that my husband can be helpful when he wants to (or when I nag him enough... :hehe:)

After we cut the lawn, it looked a lot better (if you don't look at the right hand side of the lawn where we attempted to cut the lawn on the lowest setting and then after it clogged for the millionth time we noticed where we could have the blade a bit higher and mowing after that was so easy :)) :mwlwn:

Some more of my plants I've brought/acquired and the tricycle planter was my grandads, so he'd probably be pleased its going to be enjoyed again, along with his wheelbarrow, a few planters and his seedling watering can (which I remember him using when I was little :))

I'm currently doing a bit of research on the different plants I've got, like finding how tall they'll get and if they are hardy and everything, so I can work out where to plant everything when I get my raised beds :yho:

I've tracked down some rocks for the rockery I want (still no idea where this rockery is going), one of my colleagues at work has just got rid of her rockery, and it was made from York stone, and she's said I can have as many as I want, so I'm going round her house every day from work to pick a few up (they aren't half heavy and I don't want to ruin the suspension in my car with bringing too much back at a time)

Watered my seedlings earlier aswell (hadn't done them for the last few days, so they were a bit thirsty...), but they are doing really well - my Gladioli's are sprouting up, they are almost getting too tall for the top shelf in my mini greenhouse...

Think thats everything for now, will try and post a bit more regularly now as I get back into things :)

    Hugs to all,

    Jen

    Its coming on well Jen.

Thanks for the link to your bench. The colour yours is in the garden looks so much better than the colour shown in the argos book!! The colour put me off that one when I looked but might have another look again now after seeing that its a much richer brown colour :)

Glad to see your keeping the hubby hard at work too :hehe:

    Heya,

I will try and uncover the bench and take a proper picture so you can see the colour, but it keeps raining at the moment, so will have to pick my moment!!! :hehe:

Stopped off at my colleagues house after work today and brought another small load of rocks back - I was originally storing them by the kitchen door, on Tilly's side of the garden, but I was running out of room, so thought I'd make use of the old bbq area (I'll definitely build some good arm muscles shifting them all. Plus, they are out the sight of my father in law, so even better!!) Still got some more to bring back, but here's what I've got at the moment:

I just managed a small amount of pottering about after I'd shifted the rocks and it soon begun to rain (again) so didn't get too much done :(

We were stuck for ideas about what to have for tea, so thought we'd cheat and go to our local Asda where we found something and I had a sneaky look at the garden section and found this:

As soon as I saw her I knew I had to get one, and when I showed Paul we both said Sue would have loved her, so she's my little treat :) Not bad for £8 either, and it says on the label underneath that she can be outside all year round - will just have to find a special place in the garden once its finished for her :thumb:

    Hugs,

    Jen
