I was given about 10 anemone blanda already starting to bloom.

Isn't it a bit too early for them? Or can I plant them out in this sometimes sub-zero weather with the flowers open? I live just outside of London.
And when I plant them out, since there seem to be so many flower heads and stems coming out of each 3" pot, can I divide them? Or are they all from one bulb and therefore cannot be divided?
Any advice is much appreciated. Thank you

They will be popping up in the garden, pink blue and white as soon as the soil warms a bit.Why not just enjoy them in their pots for now,or pot them into one big one somewhere sheltred.

If you want them outside then plant them outside, but harden them off first.

This can take as little as 2/3 weeks, possibly four weeks total starting at the end of March so toward the end of April is when you plant them out.

Outside for a couple of hours a day week one, then the whole of the day time week two, then I personally leave them out for a whole day and night every other day week three then out permanently in week four. Then in the soil on a permanent basis.

All this while you should observe them for any signs of ill health, not necessarily looking for any signs of "checking", because hardening up plants often involves "checking" them.

Thank you very much for the advice. I will put them in one big pot and enjoy them indoors for now and plant it out as suggested at the end of April after hardening them off.

    And what is "checking"?

"Checking"................happens when a plants growth is stopped or "checked", temporarily by something.

In the case of hardening off, a plant is "checked" by it`s sudden exposure to the elements.

It slows it`s growth down sometimes very considerably, but it is in it`s best interests to be placed outside.
