Banana Plant - what do I do

Last Winter kept my 'Ensete ventricosum - Maurelii banana' wrapped in a fleece for frost protection and kept in its pot with JI No3 with 50/50 grit, no water added throughout the winter in my shed with windows. Yet I lost it from rotting in its pot with the soil still soaking after 4 mths in the shed.

Now I have my 'Musella Lasiocarpa - Hardy Golden Lotus' of 5 yrs old in a pot with JI No3 with 50/50 grit. Its flowered this year for the first time, but it has many Pups too.

My question: Should I remove the pups with maybe roots now while its in flower, or wait till next spring. Or should I if we have another more or less frost free winter, remove the plant from its pot and keep it roots and body wrapped in a fleece till next spring and remove the pups. ?

 

I have a large red Hibiscus from Tenerife. Outside for the summer where it flowers freely. I bring it into my Conservatory roping up the branches for the winter virtually no water until end of Feb. The cons is frost proof and hot some days during the winter. Also other plants from Canaries.
I think your plant would be more difficult but I would be inclined towards a almost dry pot and maybe a little heat if there was frost just a bulb inside the bubble wrap. I do this in my greenhouse.

 

Do you have a heated place to over winter the pups?
Assume you realise the main stem will die after flowering.

If left alone over winter you can treat it exactly the same as last year.
I would perhaps dry it off a bit earlier, as I find when you put a large pot in unheated conditions in late October they tend to stay very wet most of the winter.
