I am planning to keep bees next year, and have just signed up to a free 3-month digital subscription to Bee Craft. It was recommended to me by a bee-keeper, but I can't speak for it personally - yet!

You'l have to let us know as my grandad had bee's the other year and is looking into getting a new swarm next year.

Good luck with them :) and if you were closer i'd buy a jar of honey

Kristen, when you get into the swing of it it might be worth contacting your local pest control company and giving them your details, you might well get the odd free swarm.

Unfortunately there is a reluctance around here from local bee keepers to take swarms even when you've boxed them ready, Since no one takes them I normally just box them up and release a few miles away in a quiet layby.

Quite a thrill he first time you 'handle' a swarm.

When you come to getting a bee suit or bee smock, get a BJ sherif...... Well made and worth the money.
