No, for two reasons. The hedge currently has Honeysuckle, Cotoneaster and Hawthorn though it and the Roses will just get clipped back the same as the rest. They are only there for the thorns. And two, we pay someone to cut the hedge so it won't bother me at all. :)

Still had no rain here so watering is a twice daily occurrence. Deadheading too.
No time to get on with the bed revamp....

Cut the rear lawn and watered the newly planted roses and shrubs.

Not in my garden, yesterday i went to see my friend Marion and planted a lupin and did some hoeing. She doesn't know much about it and she says that I'm not there to garden but i like doing it and to help her.

Yesterday ,apart from 'ladder duty', I did a lot of little tidying up jobs.
Trimmed back plants that were being greedy and taking over their neighbours spaces. Deadheaded ( at last) the spent London Pride , Heucheras , Poppies, Marigolds. Checked that emerging buds were bug free....rinced off or squished those that were found. Gave all the Giant Lillies the same treatment too, thankfully I only found a leaf on just one plant with a few Lilly Beetle eggs.
I trimmed the lawn edges after hubs mowed it.

Will enjoy a similar day out there again today, if this strong breeze doesn't blow us away!!

Productive day yesterday. I sowed various succulent and random seeds and most uncharacteristically, labelled the pots. In case you have ever wondered what Lytchee is in Finnish, it is "litsi".

                siemenet.jpg

Papayas and mystery seeds collected by my niece are doing well. :) The mystery seedlings are in fact doing alarmingly well... it'll be fun to identify them when they get a bit bigger. Should be easy peasy, the seeds were big, flat and brown and found in a botanical garden in Mallorca. :noidea:

Edged the lawns that spill over the paving with trusted kitchen scissors dedicated for the job. I got a long service reward some years ago from work and chose a posh set of kitchen knives that turned out to be rubbish, bad in hand and somehow wrongly balanced. (My best knife is Ikea santoku, about a tenner and used daily). Well, the chicken scissors work a treat with sandy lawn edges. :dbgrtmb:

The pond is settling in. Mr Blackbird is definitely settling in it too, and sparrows are having great time with the spray from the solar pump. They sit on purpose exactly so that the spray nearly hits them and then pretend they are in enormous danger

Some pruning, deadheading and general tidy up got done too. My clematis is in full bloom, I hope the neighbours enjoy the flowers that all face their garden.

Same here. Then no sooner had I put the watering cans away than the rain came on!

Our grillons are present and correct, although they've calmed down a bit since last week's high temperatures vanished :)

The boss has a passion for Peonies so we have a lot dotted around the various parts of the garden. This is a particularly nice one in bloom at present.
