    I've just got an allotment so i'm new to gardening, does anyone have any good tips on how to prevent or cure pests & disease's. Thanks

    Welcome to GC. What sort of pests and/or diseases are you referring to? There are lots, but some only affect certain plants.

    Probably easier to first ask what you are intending to grow on your allotment :)

    The best way of keeping your plot pest free is good housekeeping, that is, do not let rubbish build up. Keep the plot clean. Keep it weed free, keep your plants well fed and healthy. Any weaklings, remove and add to the compost bin.:gnthb:

    Pests either fly or crawl. You can significantly reduce damage from flying pests by planting many crops under enviromesh or fleece. Good garden hygiene will help reduce the crawlers as will breaking up the surface in autumn and spring to let the birds at them. A hedgehog and a toad or two will help reduce the slug and snail populations.
    Diseases are very varied as is control of them but good hygiene is the starting point. And vigilance so that you start contol before they get well established helps.
