Good evening everybody, we got back earlier from our trip to Stoke on Trent for my late brother's 'celebration of life'. Rained hard all day which was unfortunate. Although a very emotional event, it was good to meet up with family and share our memories. About fourteen of us stayed at the same hotel so mealtimes were a bit chaotic! I did get a much needed quiet hour to myself just meandering around the big GC opposite the hotel yesterday morning but didn't buy anything. My elder brother, who'd had the car accident last week, was driven up by his son from Somerset but was obviously still in pain from bruised/cracked ribs so was very firmly told to see his GP asap.

On the way home today we stopped off to have a quick coffee with old friends, one of whom had not been well after a pacemaker operation but she looked better than I had expected so that was good. The journey down was uneventful except for the roads which were awfully bumpy and potholed. Such a bad advert for England, goodness knows what the tourists think.

I'm looking forward to a quiet few days now with hopefully good gardening weather. The first rose is out, also some clematis, ceanothos and the wisteria is beginning to bloom. Gorgeous.

Yes, please, please can we have some decent weather, it was like gardening in the middle of winter today, and the plants are stacking up everywhere. I currently have Cannas and Abutilons in the living room bay window, and Moira is not happy.

my nutty neighbor not at my chess meet. anyway, she texted me, asking what date we would be back so I told her. (and for your reminder, it was just this past Thursday night) So last night, Sunday, I get a text from her that she drove by my house and saw the front door open, them asked if she should call the cops? Further more I had sent her pics of the baby shower late on Saturday, and where it was, the next town over. SMH. So I tell her again----we have an alarm system, she should never think she needs to call the cops (heaven forbid she gets involved like that )

Well off soon to go to the trivia game. I need a drink. it is held at a pub. Later.

              Good morning all :coffee1:
I hope everyone’s had a restful night. It’s 4C and overcast here in Norfolk… the ground is wet but it’s not raining … at the moment … (Edit …. It is now!)

Things to do here today including choir so potting on the squash and toms will have to wait until tomorrow. Goodness knows where I’ll put them then … we’ll have to make room for them in the studio … it’s too cold outside, even in the little grow house …

Ergates, we are on 100 acres, and the eastern end is where we live (the river is the eastern boundary). The rest is just bushland. We used to have Angora goats, but no livestock now.

                  Hi all
Another cold one here. Just checked the security camera, and bold as brass Muntjac wandered by at midnight, so need to check the damage.
We are off to a local RSPB reserve to try and spot a Bittern.

We had deer visit last year and they strip everything. Strawberry plants, 5-10 trees, raspberries; they look lovely but so destructive

                      Morning all.

That reminds me, I must buy a new battery for the electric fence that I put temporarily at the end of the garden when we are away. We go to Norfolk next week for 2 weeks.

Also need to shop for food as friends, 2 couples, are coming to lunch tomorrow.

It's cold and grey outside. Won't do gardening today. Hands ache with pulling up weeds in the raspberry bed yesterday. I'll prepare food for tomorrow.

A very good morning one and all. Got the smug face on here as I was in the SM at 06:30 attempting to avoid the snarl up caused by the three way traffic light control, installed whilst gas mains are being upgraded. I am an early riser - always have been - and going early like that is always pleasant as there are hardly any other shoppers around. I'm pleased to say that the weather is really nice and I am hoping to get into the garden after breakfast.

                            Good morning all.
No gardening yesterday as we did the weekly grocery shop in the morning and had our Covid Spring booster in the afternoon.
I was very impressed with having the jabs at a local chemist instead of our hospital. By the time we got home our NHS app already showed that we had had the booster.
Dry today, but the ground isn’t!, so will potter on the patio.
Although I don’t know how long I’ll stay out there as it’s only going to get to 9c with a northerly wind.
Good luck with spotting the Bittern @Punkdoc.
                            Enjoy your day everybody

I was lucky enough to see one a few years back when I went to Leighton Moss reserve near me.

@lizzie27, it will have been a very poignant day for you and your family members. I experienced similar in November 2022 when my youngest brother passed. He lived in Australia so it was doubly difficult. My SIL asked me to write a eulogy they could read at his funeral and I did - many funny stories about him!. We had a 'wake' here for him and I read the eulogy there too. Stay strong.
