    Hi all,

Just wondering if anybody had any advice for what might be wrong with these plants in my garden? One flowering shrub and a tree (small walnut I think?) in a large pot. After leaving them for 12 days they are very withered - looks like they need water but I don't think it's been particularly dry or hot in the South of England. Any ideas appreciated.

It's been quite warm and dry in the south west. Plants in pots need watering well at least every two days so give them a good soak and put saucers/dishes/boxes underneath to catch the water.
    Hope they survive.

I wonder if your little tree is a loquat... it's not a walnut, which has compound leaves. And I reckon it could do with a much bigger pot... once it's recovered.

I agree with @lizzie27, it's a Loquat tree. I think they should recover once they've had a good drink.

That tree would probably need watering every day at this time of year, especially in that tiny pot.
Unless it's continuous, rain, has little effect on containers at this time of year.

I agree with the others. If you are going away and can't water plants then it is worth moving any pots into a shadier position because it reduces their need for watering. I would give the loquat a bigger pot, a nice water and think about adding some mulch around it to help reduce water loss. You can mulch the hydrangea as well but given some time and water I think both will be fine.
