Gorgeous pictures @Mrs Hillard . Is the sea lavender the native one? I never knew it smelled of cocoa!

..thanks so much.. I don't think they're native, also known as Statice, sold as Limonium platyphyllum.. Noses vary but they are cocoa-y to me. Not what you might expect. I do love these plants though.

I have a Phlox David, @Mrs Hillard. Safe to say, it is looking nothing like yours. No flowers, only one healthy stem and a couple of sickly tiddlers. Bet yours smells divine. :blue thumb:

Catalpa bignoides that we bought from a GC decades ago for 50p!!! We love the golden leaves and when the sun shines through them...magic. We do get flowers but have not had beans. We do though have to prune it now and then.

Back in 2010 we planted out a piece of the insectivorous plant Darlingtonia californica in a boggy area next to the pond. It survived the -15 we had that winter. The trumpets are often misshaped but this year they are doing really well.

Do those survive outside all year round @pete ?

The first sweet peas - Dr. R. Uvedale, which is a really good doer. There's a few Beaujolais in the pot too. Looking forward to picking some for the house

                            111_0510.JPG
                            C. Star of India's looking better now. There's some V. bonariensis in the bed too, right against the house wall to keep it happy.
                            111_0512.JPG

Pond's happy too, even if the Ligularia isn't - just for a change! Once the dahlias start flowering there's more colour. The newish sibirica Iris should have been flowering, but it was yet another slug victim, along with several other plants that would normally be in flower. A few more weeks and it'll be more colourful though.
