I really like your finished picture @Penny_Forthem and have a serious envy of your artistic talent. I like drawing but do not have the panache to be so creative. My teaching career was filled with anatomical diagrams of every system and its component parts in the human body and I reckon I could still possibly draw them today. I can draw horses which I have done for years but all the things I draw are things I've seen before.

@Liriodendron, I always loved the end of a school day when I could bid goodbye to my students and pack them off home to pester their parents.

@Allotment Boy my tulips in SW France are only about 2 inches tall, but they are late flowering ones. I have some botanical tulips which aren't out yet either. Yours are pretty.

I bought a chicken for the Bring and Share lunch at the gardener's cub tomorrow. I roasted it and we had roast chicken for dinner. There is plenty left to make a chicken salad. I'm trying to lose weight and there is always a lot of pastry at these lunches which I can't eat at the moment.

It has rained all day. I painted 3 kitchen cupboards, just frames and doors, all that shows on the outside. 2nd coat tomorrow. It takes a while because all the handles and hinges have to be unscrewed. Seven more to do. Some have drawers and some are just cupboards.

It is exactly one year since we heard that the plug was being pulled on the GW chat site. I cannot believe where that time has gone and how lovely it was being welcomed here.Thank you Gardeners Corner. Well done @Busy-Lizzie on your painting tasks. I hope you have a lovely day (and lunch) at the Gardening Club. They will be happy to see you back I'm sure.

              Good morning all.

Thank you @Ladybird4. I missed the GC New Year meeting but I don't think they met in February.

Good heavens, a year already! I have missed the rose thread, but the chat threat here is friendlier, no arguments.

A year!? Agree with @Busy-Lizzie chat on GC is friendlier and I also feel it’s more helpful.

Work today. Sun is shining at the moment but showers forecast for most of the day and with a sharp northerly.

I think OH is insulating the loft today so work will be accompanied by a background soundtrack of huffing and puffing for some of the time. I work from home and one of the very small loft hatches (we have two) is in my study aka the second bedroom. Our loft is quite small and almost split in two by a ginormous chimney. It’s also low in height as the bedrooms go partly into the eaves and houses the TV aerial so going in, let alone moving around, is a bit of a contortionists act. Should be quite entertaining watching some of the insulation-wrangling and waiting for the occasional shout for help in between the curses.

Hope everyone has a productive and enjoyable day whatever activities are planned

                    :gmorning:

It is indeed one year ago since many of us joined here. I am very grateful to the admin team and to my fellow posters for this forum and the information, fellowship, friendliness and bit of fun and escapism that it brings every day.

Cheers to all on the forum, and particularly to those on this friendly thread.
                    Have a fabulous day everyone.

                        Good morning all,

A chilly, breezy one here, with the occasional shower. I’ve just finished my Pilates class, so feel suitably stretched so now enjoying a coffee. I know it’s bitter outside though because I popped out to put the new green bin away (the refuse collectors damaged the other one on Tuesday so ordered me a new one), and we have a bit of a wind tunnel by our front door which really chilled my bones. I hope we get the warmer weather back soon.

Yes, it’s hard to believe that a year has passed since GW closed its forum, but I have to say, it feels much friendlier here. (I was actually already enrolled on this site, but didn’t tend to post as much).

I second what @AuntyRach says.

                          I thoroughly concur!!
Chilly but bright. I was going to open the greenhouse door, but changed my mind when I went outside.
Looking forward to lunch out with OH, then a trip to another builder's merchant for timber sundries. Oh, the excitement!

Greetings. Disturbed night last night - OH snoring and then playful pussies at dawn - so we were a bit late getting out to do the weekly shhop. However, I found salmon, Greenland halibut and duck breasts on offer so the freezer is now stocked.

It's a bit grey today and cold but tomorrow is set to be sunny and OH has suggested we go and see the spring blossoms at a Japanese garden just over an hour away - Home - Parc Oriental de Maulévrier This is a first for him and will involve lunch.

Like others, I'm very grateful for the welcome here on GC and I really appreciate the quiet interventions of the admins on th erare occasions they're needed but especially their prompt help when asked so thank you @Fat Controller, @JWK, @Loofah, @shiney and @wiseowl. Hope I haven't missed anyone.

Have a productive day everyone, even if it's just resting your gardening muscles or shopping for gardening goodies.
