Afternoon folks, no gardening today as we had another frost overnight and it's a tad too chilly for me.
Took the kid's school blazer to the secondary school, for which they were very grateful and as I was in the right direction, headed for the GC and stocked up on bark mulch and manure. I've just got to pick up some J.I.No.3 from the DIY shop tomorrow after I've been to the dentist to have the permanent crowns put on. I shall have a dazzling smile tomorrow - I hope!

The spring blossoms should be gorgeous @Obelix-Vendée , hope you enjoy your lunch out as well. I was rather annoyed just now when the S/M delivery man tried to reverse up our drive and knocked some blossom/twigs off my beautiful pink cherry tree. I made sure (politely) that I wasn't too pleased.

I'm also very grateful for the welcome we've all had on this forum.

I was wondering if your new crowns had been fitted yet, @lizzie27, you won’t be able to wipe the smile off your face tomorrow!
I’m so envious, @Obelix-Vendée, that Japanese garden looks fabulous, I’m a big fan of that style. Have a great time.
@Penny_Forthem, love the painting! You are extremely talented.
It’s been bitterly cold here today, although very sunny. We went out for breakfast and a walk, well wrapped up, then Waitrose on the way home. I made a fake turkey pie for lunch! Cooked the turkey pieces with onions, green peppers and tarragon in a pan but cooked a square of ready made puff pastry in the air fryer. OH was very impressed again!
Not tempted to garden today, so I’ve caught up on the laundry instead.

I enjoyed the Garden Club meeting. OH came too and now he is a paid up member. He met a man there who he became friendly with when he was in the choir. The choir stopped during Covid and is no more. The man's wife, a lovely lady, died a few years ago, another case of cancer. Anyway, back to the Garden Club. There should be some meetings and events we can go to this year, I missed a lot last year. There is a new web site, the old one got too expensive and was stopped a few years ago. The President, Ian, gave a talk on the less common spring plants, like hepaticas and rarer sorts of celandine. The bring and share lunch was good. My roast chicken was all gone before OH got to it.

I've been carrying on with painting kitchen cupboards since we got back. The kitchen is a mess with cupboard doors, open drawers, paint, brushes, paint rags, newspapers etc all over the place. I'm not a tidy worker.

Steak salad.jpg What a busy day!
Lunch was very nice indeed, thank you. I had Pan seared rump steak salad, with poached pears, stilton and walnuts. It was unusual and very tasty.

We got the timber and bits we needed, but the car was so full, we couldn't go shopping, so went straight home, dropped it off, then went to pick up dog food - came home, collected dog and took her to the vet for her Librela jab. Felt a bit like a yoyo!
We were supposed to fit in a trip to the tip with the old cold frame, but that's tomorrow's job now.
          Should sleep well tonight

Good evening everyone. I seem to have had a similar day weatherwise to some on here. Sunny but brrrrr. Getting ready for the partial eclipse and the blood moon later. I think it might be frosty again tonight. @Obelix-Vendée I agree with @Ergates re the Japanese garden. It does look fabulous and I really like the Koi kites.
@Busy-Lizzie your day sounds perfect. Feel sorry for your OH missing out on the chicken though! I wouldn't worry much about the present 'mess' as the end result is going to be really good. Flipping heck @Penny_Forthem you have done a fair bit of to-ing and fro-ing today. Your meal looks delicious. Hope your OH made a good stand-in for your absentee friend.

Forgot to say that the second of our new babies arrived today - a little girl - 8lbs 2oz in old money. Her Mum and Dad have been trying for 10 years for this precious little gift. We were laughing on Sunday at the tea/coffee morning when Mum said she was classified as a 'mature' Mum because of her age. She had a Caesarean because of this. Pictures she posted on our WhatsApp group are gorgeous. Tiny person is being called Skylar. (Not Skylark.)

Coming home from yoga at 9pm with just 3C already, clear skies and a full moon shining pale and silvery so no blood. I suspect the eclipse will be way after my bedtime but I'll check again before hitting the sack.

I like the sound of your lunch @Penny_Forthem and you certainly earned a treat today. Well done @lizzie27 for the blazer and agree about it being too cold to garden.

OH is a member of our Vendée wide garden club @Busy-Lizzie but most of our outings are on Sundays when he's playing golf. Our next meeting is on Palm Sunday to prepare the decorations for the plant fair on Easter Saturday. We have the site on the 3rd Saturday of April, come what may.

@Ergates I like deconstructed pies too but OH is not as happy when I deconstruct a crumble.

I shall try and take photos tomorrow @Ladybird4 and share them on the visits thread.

Good morning everyone. I had done a full post - including picture - then discovered I had put a Saturday picture on! Ooops! Like you @Obelix-Vendée I looked at the moon last night and it was decidedly unbloody but beautiful nevertheless. The eclipse has been going on this morning but true to form my skies are covered in clouds so I will have to wait now until September for the next one.

                      Good morning all.

The garden was lit up by the moon when I went to the loo in the night. The full moon is tonight. I don't sleep very well the few nights before a full moon. I didn't see a blood moon. Isn't that a full eclipse of the moon?

Chilly this morning. I'll do painting this morning and gardening this afternoon.

Good morning @Busy-Lizzie. Early this morning it was a lunar eclipse and was only seen as a partial eclipse in the UK but a full eclipse in the USA. The moon appears red hence the 'blood moon' epithet. Good luck with your further painting tasks.

Cloudy here last night and this morning so no moon viewing for us. OH survived his contortionist’s act insulating the loft yesterday. There was quite a bit of colourful language and I think he might be a bit stiff this morning. But we should be a bit cosier now.

Next on this years job lists is a new carpet for the living room. The existing one we inherited is looking rather tired and fraying away at the edges. We will also get the thickest insulating underlay we can. We have suspended wooden floors sitting over a small void about 60cm/2ft deep so decent modern underlay and proper fitting will help with heat retention. Still waiting on quotes for the back door…sigh…

Not sure what the plans are today. I think we might do a canal walk this morning and have a pub lunch. I might break open an embroidery kit I have this afternoon. I’ve dabbled a bit in the past and enjoyed it so asked for a kit for Christmas. This one has quite a lot of new (to me) stitches so should be interesting to do -thank goodness for YouTube to help interpret the minimal instructions. I’ve kept putting off starting it but know I will enjoy it once I get going.

Congratulations on the safe and long awaited arrival of little Skylar @Ladybird4

Hope everyone’s day goes well with successful painting, gardening and crown fitting

                            Good morning all,

It’s bright and cold here this morning. Too cloudy last night to see the moon in its full glory, there was a bright patch in the sky where the moon was but it was too cloudy to see properly, so I’ve no idea if it was partially red or not. (That was around 3 am this morning).

It’s still too cold to do much in the garden, so I’ll just enjoy it instead - there’s a variety of spring flowers out now that look rather lovely.

Hairdresser for me later. I hope she can tame my unruly mop, it seems to have had a growth spurt and styles itself however it likes :).

The sun is just starting to break through here (yay!) and as I'm out to play Canasta later I am pleased about that.

Morning all, it's sunny and feels warmer today so pleased about that. I'll know if it's true when I walk to the dentist soon.
My hair is just like that as well @Blue arbour, so much so in fact I took the scissors to it a day or two ago and hacked bits off - my hairdresser will no doubt be appalled at my next visit!
We only saw the moon about 10 pm, big but pale and I'd forgotten all about it in the middle of the night.
Got to collect some J.I 3 compost after the dentist and will also drop in more stuff to the charity shop. I've also got a carrier bag full of small teddies that OH used to give me, I'll keep the House of Lords, the RNLI and IOW ones for sentimental reasons but the rest can go. I might see if the local children's nursery would like them.

We also have suspended wooden floors @Butterfly6 as I know to my cost when I fell through them! Good thick underlay and carpet will certainly help. I've just ordered one of those plastic
carpet protectors for under office chairs as I noticed yesterday that our carpet there is wearing thin. They seem cheaper now than they used to be.

It's Friday - and it's Cake Day!! Yummy (although I don't think my dentist would approve).
