That kind of mess and thoughtlessness is found in plenty of shared kitchens, I suspect. Our staffroom was a prime example - a lot of staff would rush off to class leaving their dirty dishes and utensils near the sink or in it, hoping, I presume, that the washing up fairy would come along and miraculously clear up after them. I would wash my own up and leave theirs in quiet protest, but it did irk me to do so, as I can’t stand mess and dirt in kitchens, (or anywhere, come to that ). I often wondered what their own kitchens and microwaves were like …

      Hello all.
We couldn't go to church, followed by the annual meeting and the Bring and Share Lunch after all as just as we were driving out of the gate there was a load popping noise from outside the car and flashing red lights inside the car. The car has a puncture. I slowly drove back to the garage and OH jacked up the car but we weren't strong enough to undo the nuts and my long handled nut remover has disappeared. The car was due for servicing and changing the winter tyres back to summer ones on Tuesday so I'll ring the garage in the morning. I have sent them an email.

I’ve never heard the phrase horseradish thongs before, conjured up eye-watering images :heehee:

Bad luck on the puncture @Busy-Lizzie although lucky that it happened at home rather than on a long journey

I love my greenhouse. I treated myself to a 12x8 Rhino from an inheritance just after we moved in here

Agree, @Butterfly6, I too had a rather wince inducing vision pop into my head!
It was sunny when we woke up, so once OH had finished watching the Grand Prix, we headed out. It did cloud over, but we had a pleasant walk anyway, it was so much warmer today.
Since we got home, I have planted up a hanging basket with some training red petunias that I bought last week. I’ve also stuck some camellia cuttings in water to see if they’ll root, and potted up some hebe and fuschia cuttings that had rooted in water.
Before they died off last year, I took some cuttings of a succulent type plant in last years hanging basket. I stuck them in water and they have overwintered and produced roots. I’ve just put them into some compost and am hoping they’ll grow in time to add them to the basket when it gets warmer. It feels like I’ve had quite a productive day!
What a nuisance, @Busy-Lizzie. We used to have a long hollow metal tube which would fit over the handle of the nut remover, to add that extra bit of torque. These days, we just phone the AA, too weak to do much else now.

Good afternoon all. Sorry that you didn't manage to get to your Bring and Share Lunch @Busy-Lizzie but I agree with @Butterfly6 in that it is a good job you were near home. I did a Motor Vehicle Maintenance course many moons back and we were taught that you shouldn't jack up your car until you have loosened the wheel nuts as the weight of the car gives you more leverage. These days I would be straight onto my Breakdown Recovery Company.
I have an 8x8 greenhouse with electricity laid on for frost free heating when needed. I could not be without mine.

I am signing out for today. Tea/coffee morning went down well but I was shattered when I got home. Not done a great deal today but hoping for a full on day in the garden tomorrow. Enjoy whatever you have planned for this evening and I'll see you all around tomorrow. Regards to @Goldenlily26 and @Badly_Maintained if they get chance to look in.

Hello there all. I had a l-o-n-g night of tossing and turning wondering if I was actually going to get some sleep at all. As a result my shatteredness of yesterday has persisted into today! Its dry, looks OK so even if I'm sleepwalking I will get into my garden today. Hope you all had better nights than I did. Reviving cup of Nectar of the Gods required now.

Good morning all. Very lazy day yesterday after the party on Saturday night. It was so lovely to see everyone but to be honest the music was too loud and I was glad to come home at 11 pm. We were in a private room but the rest of the venue and indeed the whole of the street was noisy and crowded and hectic. Not my idea of fun.
Work today but it’s full and grey so I don’t mind

Good morning @Debs64. Glad you had a good time with the 'catch ups' at your son's 40th but nowadays it seems that entertainers love to play the music so loud that it makes your ears bleed! I remember clubbing and the next day my ears buzzing as they recovered from the evening.

@Ladybird4 I admit I came home with a headache and I do dislike being around crowds of strangers but I enjoyed seeing faces from the past, old university friends of my sons were there and even one of his ex girlfriends plus all of my children having a great time.

Morning. About to take Bryn to his week doggy daycare play date! At least he shouldn't come back too muddy!
I am sleep deprived today, too, @Ladybird4, for no apparent reason. I fell into bed exhausted and then tossed and turned till about 3, woke at 5.30, fell asleep again at about 6.25 and alarm went at 7.45. Mondays are always busy days.
Still, mustn't grumble; it's a beautiful day and even if I can't spend it (or part of it) in the garden, the sunshine lifts my mood.
                        Grandkids later.
Glad you enjoyed the do in the main, @Debs64

Raining here so not much chop going on outside in the garden today. I will have to do some "intense documentation" today!! Sigh!!

                          Glad you enjoyed your son's 40th. @Debs64

                              Good morning all.

I'm sorry you had a bad night @Ladybird4, I hope you aren't too tired today.

I feel the same, @Debs, about noise and being in a crowd, but at least you got to see family and their friends.

I rang my insurance company about the puncture and they sent someone out within half an hour to change to wheel. I found all the company's messages in French on the phone, no real person, rather confusing so I rang my broker and got a real person. Spare tyre is in place and I'm going to the garage tomorrow for the car service anyway.

It rained this morning and the forecast said sunny periods but it's very grey.

Morning everyone, so many things to pick up on.
Horse raddish: Make sure the pots are NOT in direct contact with the soil or the roots will escape and you will have a devil of a job getting rid of them again, guess how I know??
Car wheel nuts: Yes I agree don't jack the car right up before you loosen them, use your foot on the bar, legs are much stronger than arms.
Ha loud music, the bane of my life: One GD, was in a concert last night, all the children and young adults singing songs from various musicals and films etc. The sound system was far too loud and echoed, some performances were ok, why do they teach so many of them them to screech in false American accents!! :yikes:
Needless to say our GD was one of the good ones, but I'm not biased at all you understand
