    Good morning all.

It's cold but sunny and windy which should dry up the puddles in the potholes where I ride my bike (with Fizz). I hasten to add that walking is probably better for me than riding and electric bike but with a Border Collie - the bike is faster and we tend to do the circuit with Fizz walking backwards with a stick in her mouth when walking!!!

Coffee with a young friend with little people this morning. A visit to the market. And hopefully, some gardening.

Have a super duper day everyone!!

Good morning @Tui34. It sounds as though you will have a fun packed morning this morning. Love the sound of Fizz walking backwards with the stick in her mouth presumably hoping you will throw it for her to fetch? Have you seen any more of the unpleasant person?

        Good morning everyone.
Hope you’re feeling better @Tui34 sounds as if you are out and about
We’ve decided not to replace the back door, we will do some DIY fettling instead. We managed to get three quotes and all were similar.:thud:

Also having explored under the carpet, there are some serious floorboard gaps along the outside wall so if we sort those and any elsewhere and put in super-insulating underlay that should help significantly with heat retention.

I love scrambled eggs and smoked salmon, but definitely not together. Also can’t abide cream cheese with salmon

Off on a garden visit today - Hodnet Hall in Shropshire. It’s just reopened for the new season. We discovered it last year as it was one of the GW 2-for-1 gardens. Am hoping for the forecast sunny intervals but it’s just grey and cloudy at the moment.

I wonder how @Obelix-Vendée is getting on in Paris?

Exactly! Good morning. @Ladybird4 I have to throw anything she finds. If I don't, she usually traps someone into throwing it for her - walkers think it very cute! The unpleasant person is still walking his Jack Russell who is still yapping at anything passing. I see him and her occasionally from afar, but if we happen to pass them, I just say to Fizz "Walk on, good girl....!! And she does. Skirting around them. Small dogs are usually wary of bigger breeds, so it's understandable. As long as Fizz understands not to retaliate - all is good.

Thank you @Butterfly6 my cold is still hanging around but I can't sit around - although I do in the afternoons!!

            Good morning all.

You aren't a twonk @Ladybird4, though I love that word!

When the old towel rail stopped working I explained to the electrician what I wanted and he chose that one. I wish he hadn't! It was because I wanted the control panel where I could see it, not down near the floor.

I want to go to the big plant nursery again but I'm waiting for a delivery, something OH ordered. As he's rather deaf he may not hear the postman. They said it would come by post and I must be there. I've been weeding the patio bed and a lavender has died so I want something else to take its place. I think something else has died too, can't remember what. Trouble with here is that it's very wet in winter and very dry in summer. I think water runs under the garden, which is on a bit of a slope, down to the river at the end of the field.

Morning all. I have a blood test and ecg this afternoon, so I darent go out for my usual caffeinated coffee this morning!. Plenty to catch up at home though. The boiler service needs booking, and I want to move three tiny daffodils while I can still see them! They are almost lost to view where they currently are, but the others I’ve already moved are doing well beside the front steps.
I’ve just been reading up about planting the begonia tubers in the hanging basket. Of course I should have read that first, but thankfully, it seems that I haven’t done anything too wrong, and I did put them in the right way up! Maybe I should have started them off in pots and transplanted them later. I might still do that, as I only put them in yesterday.
I must also identify somewhere to plant the two perennial poppies that somehow ended up in my bag yesterday! Unfortunately (or not) the route from the cafe to the loo at the Donkey Sanctuary passes the outdoor plant sales area. It seems churlish and uncharitable not to have a look round as I go by, and I can at least assuage any guilt at my spending when I know it’s going toward a worthy cause. I do however have a bit of a backlog of purchased plants waiting to go into the ground. We are in such a lot of shade from the trees here, that any sunny spots or flat areas are at a premium.

I was tempted to take my coffee and sit in the garden this morning, but it was decidedly too chilly!
Although I am growing annuals from seed, I am in need of some herbaceous plants for the shady area under the fence by the patio (where the pyracantha had spread its tentacles!). A visit to our fave GC might be on the cards today!
My other 'big' job today is to clean the old chimney pot, which had also been engulfed by said pyracantha and is now filthy.
Enjoy your day, wherever you are!

I've been to the big plant nursery and bought plants :hapydancsmil: I thought there was a plant purchases thread but I can't find it. I've bought another Alstroemeria Indian Summer, Salvia Caradonna, a variegated lemon thyme as the one I planted 4 years ago has died and a coreopsis. I also bought 3 more raspberry plants, Malling Promise. That's the first time I've found summer fruiting raspberries here.

Did my stint at volunteering at the church this morning. Our numbers were down 50% today, so I had a little more to do than usual. But that's good for me!!
The weather is bright and sunny this afternoon, but still quite cool. Gonna get in the garden while I can. So much to do. I'm having trouble assembling my lawn aerator. The nuts do not screw far enough up the bolts, in order to fix the handle on safely.
Any ideas? Or do I just inform the supplier?
                        Many thanks

We had a trip to Ruthin GC, where I didn't spend as much as I thought I might. Compost and a rhubarb. Very conservative. However, when I got home, I did place an order with Farmer G for bearded iris to go in the sunny border and astilbe, to go in the shady one.
Then I had an enjoyable hour in the greenhouse, pricking out stocks and trailing lobelia. I have tomatoes to do tomorrow.
I just love this time of year.

                            Good afternoon,
It’s been a gorgeous day here, warm and sunny. There’s a bit more cloud cover now.
We went to a GC this morning as I needed to buy a larger plant pot and container as one of my house plants, a money plant, toppled over on its own and the outer pot cracked. It had got rather top heavy. Anyway, it’s now re-potted and I’ve had to site it on the kitchen table, which is by the window, for the moment as it’s too large to go on the windowsill in the sitting room now, like it did before. I’m not sure where its permanent home will be as it requires bright light, otherwise it might become leggy, apparently.
Tomorrow, I’ve got some seeds to sow - lupins and foxglove.
It sounds like you had a productive day @Penny_Forthem.

What an interesting day I have had. Having been told meter man was arriving this afternoon I was quite taken by surprise when there was a knock on my door at about 11:00. A rather dishy young man explained that his mate, who was supposed to be coming had texted him and asked him to do my job as he was running late. Well I know that I can talk the hind legs off a donkey (sorry @Ergates) but boy did I meet my match today! Guess what we talked about - gardening. That's 2½ hours of my life I won't see again but it was a very enjoyable spell. Job finished and now I have smart meters. It won't make a ha'porth of difference to my usage as I will do what I want to do when I want to do it.
@Ergates, I think it only right that you support a small business and I would not have been able to bypass the plants. @Fourmerkland I would get in touch with the supplier regarding your lawn aerator. They may have some tips. I love astilbes @Penny_Forthem and they love my soggy garden. Lupins and foxgloves are favourites too but I don't like those big, fat, grey-green aphids that some lupins get blighted with.
It turned into a super sunny day after the thick mist this morning.

Signing out for today - just remembered to adjust my timer switches - I'll only have to do that again next weekend! Having my hair done at Bestie's tomorrow. It needs it. Hope you all have enjoyable evenings and I'll 'see' you all in the morning.
