The forecast here is very good for next week hope yours is the same @AuntyRach. I use a lot of pelargoniums and other bright annuals in pots and baskets so hoping this saves me a few pounds. I also got petunias and snapdragons

We did have a lovely lunch - my Cousin H, is very fussy about her fish and chips (and rightly so), but these were deemed perfection. I had kedgeree and a perfectly poached egg.
As part of their special buys, Aldi have chemical loo stuff this week, so (as we are caravanners, in case you've forgotten! No, I didn't think so!!) we went and bought a year's supply, then took it straight up to the van.
A couple more stops, Toolstation and local dIY and we got back at 5. Doggie feeding time.
As it's been a full on day, I shall look forward to the Apprentice and @Ladybird4's take on this year's shower.

Good evening all. I feel much happier now my hair has been well shortened. Had a great morning at Bestie's and managed to get home before the rugrats and ankle biters were turfed out of their various schools.
Many of you have been very busy. @Debs64 you will be going back to work for a rest! I think I need to get some peargoniums as they are usually such good 'doers' and put on a decent show throughout the summer. @Obelix-Vendée it seems like you have never stopped since you got back from Paris. @lizzie27 hope the recall wasn't anything concerning for you. @AuntyRach you completely confused me -easily done these days:
I only make it Thursday Eve.

Well done on your major bulk buy @Penny_Forthem - hope you have enough storage space. I cannot wait for tonight's episode of the Apprentice and to quote Terry Thomes (yep, I am old enough to remember him) they are all a 'right shower'! I reckon they pick the biggest eejits for the entertainment value only because if a crafty old fox like Sir Alan Sugar can't spot the weakest links then heaven help him!

Thursday evening is the eve of Friday @Ladybird4 , like Xmas and NY Eve.

Busy afternoon for me, potting up stuff in the polytunnel, feeding and watering all the houseplants and watering the outside pots. No gardening tomorrow as it's weekly shop day and then I need to make a cake.

            Have a restful evening everyone.

Ah sorry @Ladybird4 - I meant Friday-Eve as in the eve before Friday. It’s what the youngsters say apparently so I’ve adopted it!

I also like “absolute shower”! I use that one regularly.

Really enjoyed the programme about teaching some people who live in a retirement village British Sign Language (‘Old hands, new tricks’. On BBC iPlayer) last night so might watch the second episode tonight.

                Night all.

 No worries @AuntyRach and thanks for the explanation @Obelix-Vendée. I did tell you it didn't take too much to confuse me, and yes, @Penny_Forthem it is 'absolute' rather than 'right'. I do remember him putting a coin between his two front teeth once. Such random things that stick in my mind.

It was good, wasn’t it @AuntyRach? I watched it last night and will watch the next one next week. I wasn’t sure if I would enjoy it at first, but I did.
Incidentally, at the moment, my hearing isn’t as good as it should be due to a mixture of the tail end of a viral infection in one ear and compacted wax in the other ear, so hearing is affected. So, watching it last night with affected hearing brought it home to me how hard it must be for the hearing impaired. I hate not having my usual sharp hearing, so it must be so, so much harder for people who find themselves with permanently reduced or no hearing, especially if it’s happened after previously being able to hear.

We had fibre installed today. It's much faster. They came to do the setting up at about 11.30am, involved a cherry picker and putting the cable on the telephone post to the chimney, then drilling a very long hole in the old thick stone wall of the house to pass it through. Then they went away. Chap came back at about 6.30pm to set it up and show us how it works. We were nearly out of milk but I hadn't dared go to the SM as I didn't know when he was coming. SM shuts at 7.30pm, only just made it!

I did gardening in the afternoon. It was quite sunny and the bedding dried on the line.

The workmen are digging up nearly all the pavements round here to install fibre (we think) but as there is no pavement outside our boundaries I'm not sure we'll be able to have it.

OH also had to drill 4 holes for the staple plate fixing for the Shade Sail into our Bath stone faced house wall this morning, it was very hard going, even with the hammer drill. Yours must have been even harder, being an old stone cottage.

One thing I will have to do soon apparently is to upgrade my 3 year old Samsung phone to take 4G, as 2G and 3G are being phased out sometime this year in this area. I have had a look at the instructions but don't understand them, has anybody else any experience of this please? Might it be the phone's age or my cheap Tesco rate?

I think it must be my bedtime, I feel very weary suddenly so will say goodnight. See you all in the morning.

A very good morning @Debs64 and all arriving later. I, too, woke up to rain this morning but it is only light at the moment. Fingers crossed it stops as I am out playing Canasta later. I will be delivering tomato plants to friends today - thinning out room in my GH.
@lizzie27, if you use your phone to access t'internet you will need to upgrade your phone as once the lower 'g's' are switched off, internet access will be lost also. Your three year old Samsung will just need a 4G or higher SIM card which your service provider (Tesco) will be able to provide. You could shop around for the cheapest SIM only offer. This is what I do. I own my own phone (which is 5G) and I negotiated a good SIM only deal with my provider, Vodafone, who I have been with all my mobile life! Good news that you got your shade sail up. That will be such a boon when we get our summer days.

It's Fri-yay and another nice day, though with a 'lazy' wind.
Sounded like big job, @lizzie27 - when you have time, would you take a pic please?
@Busy-Lizzie your workers sound professional. A friend is having a devil of a time with Orange in France.
My hub announced on Wednesday that he'll treat me to lunch today; not one to look a gift horse in the mouth, I accepted gracefully! We'll drop old girl off at the groomer (DiL's mum!) on the way.
The forecast for the next week looks 'set fair'. We'll be grumbling about lack of rain, soon!
