I arrange my deliveries for between 06:00 and 07:00 because I am always up then and it then gives me the whole day to myself
@Tui34 your lovely picture this morning has just reminded me how much I love suger coated almonds and how long it is since I've eaten any!

Morning! Another lovely day. Small victory this morning; hub left coffee in the cafetiere and water in the kettle, so that's me sorted.
I'm sleeping in fits and starts and the paracetamol helps. Every movement is considered!
Today's the day hub starts his gardening course. He's starting with pricking out seedlings and potting on tomatoes. Luckily, I did a whole load of flower seedlings last week.
What does concern me is the arrival of FG's iris and plants. The ever reliable Alex, who cuts our grass, would normally plant them if I asked, but he's taking paternity leave!
Maybe next week, when I'm pinned, I could do them...

Good morning. Sunny here but very windy so I'm pottering indoors till it warms up. OH has come back from physio via the outdoor supplies store to fetch more bedding for the chooks and has bought a packet of peas as he'd like to grow peas this year.

Doh! Clearly a blonde moment as it's too dry here for peas and beans and you'd think that would have registered after 8 summers here and no peas. I can do broad beans if I sow them in autumn but not other legumes, including sweet peas. Sweetcorn too.

Good skills for your OH @Penny_Forthem. Much too early for me @Ladybird4. I am not a lark.

We're expecting cloudy and wet tomorrow @Tui34. OH is playing golf tomorrow and he's just asked if he can play on Friday too! Has to get final Winter Cup matches in before the 21st of April. I shall play in my own way.

Work this morning and then we had a walk along the canal to make the most of the sunshine. Some HW and other bitty jobs to do this afternoon and then packing. We’re off to Beaumaris for a few days of sunshine on the coast. Will do Bodnant Gardens again and probably one or two others.

Hope everyone has a productive and enjoyable day x

Oooh @Butterfly6 , we were supposed to be on a coach trip to Bodnant tomorrow but it was cancelled due to “lack of interest”. Luckily there’s another trip in June so we’re booked for that but I really wanted to see how they do the Spring at Bodnant. Plas Cadnant is lovely too.

@Ladybird4 6 or 7 AM for grocery delivery, WOW, that store must open early. I don't think mine opens till 8AM. We have some grocery stores here that have Senior day discounts and bag discounts, so I shop on those days, each bag I bring gives me back 5 cents, and the satisfaction of not adding plastic to mother nature.

In the garden today, some have to burn the burn pile. getting water hoses situated near by just in case. Husband's birthday yesterday, he did not want to go out, made him a nice meal and got him a coconut cream pie and cupcakes, he seems happy with it all. At our ages, we need no gifts.

Lots of arrangements to the garages this week going on, husband needs to clear out one garage so he can move the Willies cab from one to another, then move the Nova race car to where the Willies is so he can work on it. Have some guys appearing this weekend to help with the move. And he's planning on selling one of the trucks, getting it all cleaned up. Our Nephew, is driving up from Mississippi with our other truck to bring to us. He wants to convert the Nova back to street capability, new gas tank etc.

We are always into something. Yes, still doing taxes off and on. Take care all.

It’s been a gorgeous day here, though a little breezier than yesterday. However the blue sky and sunshine has been most welcome. OH and I went to a nearby RSPB reserve today and saw quite a variety of birds. Also, the blossom was looking lovely and slowly everything is waking up. All in all, a beautiful spring day. It’s hard to believe that the reserve was once a coal mining area with heavy mining machinery, winding gears and rail tracks. All long gone, and now nature is returning. It’s a beautiful place to visit.

Hello all, I had written a fairly long post last night/this morning but couldn't seem to 'post' it. It's happened before lately and there doesn't seem to be a 'Save as draft' button which would be jolly useful. Tried to send the Mods a message and now can't find that either. Not my day.

The garden's looking gorgeous at the moment (if you ignore the weeds!) full of various spring bulbs. The cherry tree is just going over but the magnolia stellata is fully out and looking magnificent. We do need some rain though (preferably overnight). I had another go at fixing the slatted shelve problem in the greenhouse but had to resort to plan B which is to cut up a sheet of steel mesh to fit over the shelves, bending the ends over the tubular slats with pliers. Not an easy job.
Relaxing now with a glass of pinot blush before cooking a pork stir fry.

Hope you've all had a good day.

Good afternoon all. Baby steps @Penny_Forthem and you can now add 'instructor' to your C.V.
I love Bodnant Gardens and used to take my Mum there a lot. It was on my first visit there that I met a Eucryphia for the first time and I have one in my garden now but I'm really concerned that the flooding my poor garden suffered all through our Winter may have seen it off. I have spent today wrestling with the vicious climbing rose I am hoping to get rid of. I still have a way to go though. @redstar, it is not a store as such where I buy my groceries. It is online only and they have distribution centres where the stuff must be stored. Its all very clever how they do it. 50% of the company is owned by M&S - yes the store that gave me such a headache yesterday - so all their food which is rather nice can be bought and delivered. They price match with Tesco - a big retail store - and if what you buy from them could have been bought cheaper at Tesco, they repay you the difference. They also pay you 10p back on each of their shopping bags that get returned to the driver on your next delivery. The earliest slot for delivery is 05:30 - 06:30. I go for the second one.

I need the rain @Ladybird4 for my newly planted potatoes and fartichokes. He has waterproofs and a big umbrella. He's playing up near Nantes so it may be wetter or drier there and they'll feed him as it's a competition.

I do like ingenious women @lizzie27 . How did OH's planting class go @Penny_Forthem ?

Did I post this morning? Can't remember.

Cloudy and drizzle was forecast, and that's what it did. I didn't mind as I ache from yesterday. I did the ironing in front of recorded "Escape to the Country".

This afternoon I went to the Gardening club vegetable group meeting in a member's house. I enjoyed it, it was quite animated. Lots of cake, tea and coffee afterwards.
