    Good morning all.

I'm glad you like your room @Debs64. Have a lovely time.

I must have been tired. I slept for 9 hours with one loo break. Must be all the gardening. I've been getting huge creeping buttercups out of the raspberry bed. Where have they come from? They weren't there last autumn.

Our forecast is warm and sunny for the next week, 20C, and the week after is still 20C but rain. I'm sorry yours is for such cold weather @Ante1.

I'm trying to finish the veg garden before we go back to Norfolk on the 14th. Then my daughters will be coming to stay during the French Easter holidays. After that we are going to Cornwall, visiting friends and family on the way. I think I'll take a risk and sow seeds into the ground, like runner beans and Cosmos, and see if anything comes up by the time we get back on 20th May.

      Good morning,

A lovely start to the day here. A bit cloudier and breezier, but the sun is shining, too.
I did a bit in the garden yesterday, and may do some more today if I have time as I’ve got a few other things to do, too, so it might have to wait until tomorrow.

I hope the cold spell is short lived @Ante1. It’s been known to snow here at Easter, even when it’s later like this year. I hope we aren’t being lulled into a false sense of security with the mild snap we have now. I don’t think I want to see any snow now, thank you .

        Morning all.

I was thinking the same about this mild and dry start to April @Blue arbour. Snow or hard frost would not be good for buds and new shoots.

Have a lovely weekend all and enjoy your activities or your rest.

Supposed to be cloudy with sunny spells but the sky is clear blue and just a bit hazy round the far edges. Another visitation in the night - outside food bowl not enough or maybe just dry so he came in and scoffed all the wet food our pair had left, was distrubed by OH who went to see who was making all the row with the metal bowl then came back later to fonish off all the kibble in the ceramic bowl. Either there are two of them or this one is about to explode.

OH went out to strat cutting our grass which is already too long for the sit on but hasn't been dry enough till now. I interrupted him for a trip to a charity shop which has a fabulous chest of drawers on sale. Utterly stunning but too expensive. Now we have wait till 3pm before we can be noisy outside but that gives me time to spatchcock and marinate a chicken for dinner.

More seed sowing for me this pm and a feed for the camellia.

Enjoy your weekend and curry @Debs64. Hope all your treasures survive the cold snap @Ante1. Go for it @Busy-Lizzie. Any that grow will be better than weeds.

          Happy gardening and everything else.

I went for it @Obelix-Vendée! Runner beans are sown outside. I've put my gardening on the gardening thread. Knackered now. Must cook dinner.

Good evening all. Gosh @Ante1, just reading about your weather makes me feel cold. I've had a good day today, got a lot of candelabra seedlings I sowed last year put out into the garden as well as some Primula maximowiczii (I call them Maxi for short). I have no idea where the day has gone. I wish I could get 9 hours sleep @Busy-Lizzie. I also received a gift for Cricket that I just couldn't resist:
              Cat Grass.jpg
He is munching his way through lots of this treat and the second sowing is just about 2cm high. I don't let him get at the grass until is is about 10cm tall. I will be sowing another batch in his new trough. It sits on its own bamboo tray to catch any drips.

Too many mice and birds plus heat and dry for me to sow anything direct @Busy-Lizzie tho I did try beans in our first two years here. Total failure but broad beans sown in late autumn are fine.

I've been sowing seeds in trays today - burgundy coloured helenium and dward sunflowers, escholtzia Mikado (carmine pinky red), cleome, geum Blazing Sunset, ratabida columnifera Mexican Hat (mahogany red) and some homegrown thalictrum. Definitely need to sow some lighter colours in my next session.

Dinner is roasting in the oven - spatchcocked chicken I slathered with an aromatic yogurt paste at lunchtime so it could soak. I found some watercress in Leclerc on Thursday - rare as hen's teeth here - so we're having salad with it.

It wa sso warm out there I had to change into a strappy top. I hope everyone's had some good wetaher for gardening and other activities.

Well humph! Possum, who fell in love with sushi and wasabi at 18 months old (I had a Japanese friend who made them for a cookery group pot luck dinner) and now makes her own sushi does not like watercress! Too peppery.

The vast majority of wasabi sold in the UK and Europe is actually made with watercress and horseradish so how very dare she not like watercress?

                    Chicken was good.

Good morning all. Cold and very windy morning. Yesterday was around 21℃ and now is only 5℃. I was at cottage yesterday afternoon and first had a nice, long walk with Max, then finished with repairing one part of my fence. Not without minor injury, but it's all part of the work on the land. Now is time for tea. Have a nice Sunday you all.

Was quite cool this morning when I got up so I've put on my heating to take the nip out of the air in the house. @Obelix-Vendée I had to smile at your last post as one of my brothers has a similar quirk. He refuses to eat fruit scones or shortbread biscuits with currants in because he 'doesn't like the fruit' but give him a fruit cake and he will wolf that down. It always amuses me.

Good morning @Ante1, it wasn't quite that cold here but enough to feel uncomfortable. Cricket has had his breakfast and is now snuggled in his bed which is next to the radiator in the front room. He knows where the heat is!

Good morning all. Heading home today once everyone is up and packed. Been a lovely trip and we were so blessed with the weather but I will be glad to be home and back in my own garden. Countdown to Easter now and work will be getting busy. One of my favourite times of the year and so much better in the sunshine.

Wall to wall sunshine here today but still feeling a bit fresh tho it will warm up later. OH and I have been and raided the tomato stand at the plant fair at Angles - 10 big fat ones and 10 cherry types. We'll experiment this year and plant some outside.

Also bought 6 Guariguette strawberries for the new bed and 2 wild garlic plants. OH has strict instructions not to weed these. I'll have to surround them with "hands off" signs and hope for 3rd time lucky. He's off outside cutting grass in the veggie plot so I have a clear space to empty the last of the pots out of the polytunnel and prepare the beds for tomatoes.

Then more sowing for me. Leafy plants today.

I hope your injury is not serious @Ante1 and that you get home safely @Debs64.

                                Have a lovely Sunday everyone.

PS - OH has seen the visitor and it's not ginger but grey. However, I still suspect 2 as there was more "singing" in the middle of the night.
