I succumbed to buying a kindle yesterday. i find a book too heavy and awkward, yet the phone is too small to read efficiently. As i think i'll be doing a lot of that in the coming weeks, it made sense to buy a kindle.
I hope that I do manage to have the op tomorrow, otherwise it will be thursday. I also hope that I am allowed home, rather than staying the night, though i have to go prepared for that. I am rather dreading it.

      Morning all.

Had planned pottering outside in my PJs this morning but a) was a bit chilly and b) call from Dad needing assistance to move something. I nipped to SM to buy some bacon for butties on way home. So good in the sunshine with a coffee!

Pleased with my shed tidying efforts yesterday. I have sooooo many pots! #mightcomeinhandy.

I can understand you’ll be a bit apprehensive @Penny_Forthem - don’t overthink it - you’ll be back to it all soon. Kindle is a great idea.

      Have a lovely Sunday everyone.

Good Golly, have to share this with you all. So yesterday, had a bunch of folks over, 5 total. Took the young lady, she is about 50 years old for our tour of all our daffodils, as you know there are thousands of them. Just before she left I found her a container, and gave her a pair of scissors, and said go cut yourself some to take home for your table. She asked me where to cut them, I told her at ground level is ok. So then she comes back and actually says to me, NOW HOW DO I PLANT THEM? not kidding folks.

No botany lessons in school then @redtsar? I still remember growing broad beans i what you would call 8th grade to see how their roots and shoots developed. Mind you, I had a Belgian friend who dead headed her potted hyacinths, including all the leaves at the base, and was surprised when I explained her mistake.

I've heard my first cuckoo this afternoon whilst pottering. Lovely warm, sunny pm in the veg plot potting on, sowing and then feeding and piling more manure round the rhubarb and giving it a good drink. Shower and hair wash next and a good manicure needed.

I love my Kindle @Penny_Forthem and am on my 2nd. The first was bought when I was having new feet in 2013 - shortening metatarsals, re-attaching toes and doing bunions while they were on. English language books heap expensive, none in the local library and there's a definite limit to how much knitting a non knitter can manage. It died while I was having my first knee done and was replaced.

Checkout Kindle Unlimited as well as buying books not listed there. Don't overthink your op - your arm will heal better for it.

Love a bacon butty @AuntyRach. Good thinking.

@Obelix-Vendée she is 50 years old??? you'd think at some time some curiosity would set in to wonder about certain easy things. My husband thinks she may have never gotten flowers before! But then again, 2 weeks ago my 65 year old female cousin told me she never knew you are supposed to rotate your car tires. I don't believe I know it all, but I do know what I know, and have curiosity to find out information and have critical thinking.

I am with you @Obelix-Vendée in that I love my Kindle too. I think mine - which is now over 10 years old (I only know that because I took it to Australia in 2015 when I went to my niece's wedding) is beginning to show signs of old age. I read it every night before I go to sleep.
Got everything crossed here for you @Penny_Forthem. This time tomorrow it could be all over with. I have enjoyed pottering in the garden today. I think I need to mix up my compost in the bins to allow some aeration before I add any more 'stuff'. I spotted some leucojums in my front garden yet I cannot even remember planting them! My back garden is smothered in celandines which I know will disappear come Summer and the bees are loving them but I wish they weren't so profligate!

Just back from a very sunny break in Beaumaris. We had a very relaxing time. Bodnant was beautiful, dozens of Magnolias to swoon over.

It’s lovely to get home too and see what’s changed in the garden just in the few days we have been away. Our Magnolia is in full swing and the Quince and Medlar are full of leaf. Hav ewatered my pots and all the seed trays in the GH. We had the grand total of around 5mm rain in March and none forecast for another week or so

Glad to hear everyone has being enjoying the weather and their gardens. Another kindle user here. I enjoy the feel of a proper books but also the convenience and choice a kindle offers. Great for taking on holiday or hospital stays.

All the best for tomorrow @Penny_Forthem Am sure it will all go smoothly and you will soon be home and able to focus on recovery

                    Good evening to you all.

Had a lovely weekend until this morning when my brother-in-law phoned to annonce the death of my father-in-law. He was 90 and had had a very busy life - workaholic with vineyards and vegetables. A wealth of knowledge when it came to the land. I have been asked to organise the requiem so it will be a busy couple of days coming up. I am to see the priest tomorrow. There will be a lot of people at his funeral. His wife died 4 years ago.

We had a really hot day today with a hot dry north wind. Quite surprising as the mornings are 8/10°C. It was 26°C. Tomorrow we are expecting a high of 19°C - so spring weather.

I don't have a kindle but read on a reconditioned iPad that I bought last year to download Borrowbox (thank you @Ladybird4 ) and I love it. I use the audio books a lot as it is good to take into the kitchen with me when I am cooking, or the garden etc. especially when the book gets to that stage where you can't put it down. I am ploughing through them. Good during the nocturnal wakefulness. Don't have to turn the light on to read. (Mind you, you don't have to turn the light on to read a screen).

I wish you all a pleasant evening and a good start to the new week.

Sorry to hear that, @Tui34. Hope all goes well.
It’s been a lovely day here. We had a glorious time on Friday, lunch out, then a walk by the Otter estuary, which has been reclaimed as a nature reserve. Saw ( and heard) curlews and oystercatchers, plus assorted ducks, annoyed that I didn’t take my bird guide to identify them. Yesterday, we walked at the Donkey Sanctuary, again glorious sun and a blue sky, although there was rather a chilly wind. OH wasn’t feeling well last night, so we have had a quiet day at home. I didn’t do much apart from getting some laundry done. Bit too distracting to get any gardening done, but he seems to have been ok today.
I still have small shrubs to plant, and loads of seedlings in the propagator. I’m sure they are still too small to move into pots, but looking crowded in their divided trays. I’m looking at lots of videos on what to do next!

Evening everybody, I'm sorry for your loss @Tui34, and hope the planning all goes well.

Good luck for tomorrow @Penny_Forthem , as others say, this time tomorrow should hopefully all be over.

Glad you had a good weekend @Debs64.

                              That's unbelievable @redstar.

I've had yet another good, busy day in the garden but had to pace myself as my back was twinging after yesterday's efforts. Lots of sit downs with cuppas. Got the hosepipe and watered both front and back gardens, including all the pots (I had thought I had cut down on these but they seem to have multiplied behind my back!). Very pleased to see that my peonies have survived, also my hostas.

                                Good evening,

It turned into a beautiful day, with clear blue skies after a cloudy-ish start. Pleasantly warm at 16 degrees this afternoon, but it’s dropped cooler now the sun has set.

Condolences to you @Tui34. It sounds as if your FiL has had a good, fulfilled life, but it will still be a sad time for you all.

Oh dear, @redstar, you certainly do have to wonder sometimes, don’t you?
