That’s brilliant news @Penny_Forthem … as long as you are ok. You can’t beat your own bed and home comforts.

I have a hosta and geranium combo too - agree looks fantastic together @redstar.

    Gloves- check.
    Boots - check.
    Long sleeves - no.
Result = bramble scrams on forearms.
    Idiot.

I am home and have had a snooze.
I have an adjustable backrest, which makes it very comfy and easy to get out of bed - my biggest fear!
            Onwards and upwards, now.
Thank you all for your support, you lovely lot.

So glad to hear you are home @Penny_Forthem. Indeed, onwards and upwards now :).
The adjustable backrest sounds just the ticket.

Good that you are now at home @Penny_Forthem, the adjustable back rest sounds a good idea, I could do with one of those at the moment, having to sleep propped up so I can breathe properly.

Spent a quiet day (OH was away again) in the garden, cutting off the spent hellebore flowers and then after lunch, digging out reams of bindweed roots just in one area before watering the soil well and covering it with bark mulch. Hopefully I'll be able to see the bindweed when it next appears and zap it sooner. One bag of mulch didn't go far though, only seems to cover about 1 m sq.

I was very pleased when an order I did online only yesterday morning arrived after lunch today and by Evri as well! Must have been the quickest ever. I bought a plain white top with a piecrust frill around the neck specifically to go under crew neck jumpers - I have 6 in different colours. It's great for hiding an elderly neck as well! The other item was a reduced price outdoor umbrella which is tiltable and portable with tripod legs. It's to go by our Lutyens bench which faces south so I needed the tiltable option. I do hope it works but at the price it was worth a punt.

We have been right idiots in not checking our diaries together. I bought tickets for a friend and I for the Malvern Flower Show plus coach back in February but didn't put it on the joint kitchen calendar and meanwhile OH had an invite to join friends in the IOW for a 3 day event at a hotel - guess what, it's the same weekend. Duhhh, so I've had to cancel Malvern. I really, really wanted to go this year as we've missed the last two and it looks like I might not get a refund if the Gardening Club can't resell the tickets. An expensive mistake!

Great to read the latest update @Penny_Forthem. Onwards and upwards! Oh dear @lizzie27, what a shame about the clash of fixtures. Fingers crossed you can get your money refunded.
Good morning everyone. Well the forecast seems to be correct. The skies are very cloudy this morning which means that rain could be on its way. I hope that everyone has a lovely Palm Sunday and once the tea/coffee morning is over I will be out in my garden and greenhouse again.

A bit grey this morning but due to have a bit of sun today before the weather changes for next week. We have rain forecast most days, such a shame as it’s the first week of the Easter school holidays here. I will welcome the rain for the garden, s9 maybe w could have it overnight

Glad to here you are home @Penny_Forthem and wishing you a good recovery.

Sorry you will miss Malvern @lizzie27. It’s a lovely show, so think the setting is perfect.

Will just be pottering in the garden later. I have some self-seeded primroses to rescue from the lawn before OH mows. Other than that, I shall see how the mood takes me. I have various jobs to do, large and small.

We visited Bluebell Arboretum yesterday and I was seduced by various Acers and some stunning cherry blossom. I resisted but feel the need to thoroughly explore the garden and remind/convince myself that I have not got room for another tree.

I seem to be very achy in the early hours and morning these days, mainly hips and thighs. It tends to lift once I’m moving around but a milder echo after walking for a while. Ive had it occasionally in the past but it seems to be most days at the moment. I’m not inclined to visit the GP as I’m guessing they will simply say it’s the impact of ageing, which it probably is. Any recommendations on things as can do or try which might help?

Hope everyone has a good day whether that’s working, relaxing or recuperating. Safe journey tomorrow @Busy-Lizzie

Today is reset day; no hospital food, no injections, no morphine, no obs, no 6am wakeup.
i had to have the menu chosen by my bed's previous occupant, so it was chicken pie and mash on Friday. I say chicken, but it was gravy and wallpaper paste. i was able to choose a healthy (hah) sounding cheese salad sandwich for lunch yesterday. I don't know what constituted the salad element, but it was conspicuous by its absence. Apparently, I'll be missing a wonderful beef dinner today (their words)
I slept surprisingly well and was able to get out of bed fairly easily.
Must try and catch up. The hospital internet was as iffy as its food.

Great to hear you are home, settled and the NHS food is behind you @Penny_Forthem.

Just having a lunch break here between compost sieving and sorting. I’ll have enough for several big pots plus mulch. Good return for ‘free’!

                          Enjoy Sunday folks.

                            Good afternoon all,

Sunny spells here, but decidedly cooler than it has been. I’ve been to church but done very little yet since I got back. I need to stir myself.

I bet your first night back in your own bed felt wonderful @Penny_Forthem, and I’m glad you managed a good nights sleep. The joys of hospital food  - you’ll not be missing that, I’m sure.

A very lazy start to the day here. There was light rain when we woke up, so I quickly popped my seed trays out, hoped they enjoyed it! It’s a bit brighter now, and quite warm. OH is complaining about sore feet today, so a day at home. The boiler is having a service tomorrow, so I’ve had to straighten up the utility room. One bit of worktop is currently covered in jam jars with cuttings in. I’ve done three lots of laundry though, and put away all the dry stuff from the airing cupboard. Then time for a late shower, and a morning coffee while painting my toenails!
Very pleased that you are home with decent food and your own bed, @Penny_Forthem. Keep up the painkillers though. It’s often misleading when one arrives home feeling pretty good, and then the hospital doses of drugs wear off.
Don’t know what to do for dinner today. After I read about @Obelix-Vendée’s Saturday lunch of English breakfast, i decided to do the same yesterday! And very tasty it was too.

Good evening everyone. It was a very busy morning today and I didn't get home until after 12:00. I had made plans to get into the garden but I was too tired so had a restful afternoon after my lunch instead. I have a feeling I might be quizzing again tomorrow evening but we only get the call at the eleventh hour.
I hope you have enjoyed being at home @Penny_Forthem and that your recovery progresses satisfactorily. I remember when I was in hospital - the food was ghastly and the water (which they love you to drink by the litre) tasted so strongly of chlorine that I think they got it out of the local swimming pool! It was undrinkable. Fingers crossed your boiler service goes without any hiccups tomorrow @Ergates. Signing out for today. Enjoy whatever you have planned for this evening as long as it doesn't involve anything to do with HW. @Busy-Lizzie don't forget anything on your packing list and if you are making an early start tomorrow, have a safe journey. See you all tomorrow.
