Good evening all. You will have to let me know how your slow cooker rice pudding works @Debs64. I am with @Butterfly6 in thinking it sounds rather delish. Have a fun evening with Thomas.

Dear me @Goldenlily26, but you have had such a really tough tme lately. Take time to look after yourself, and when you feel tired just give in and rest. I agree with the comments made by @Butterfly6, @Blue arbour and @Obelix-Vendée regarding the sky balloons. @Penny_Forthem. I know that you are itching to be completely recovered but take things slowly and let Nature work its magic.
Speaking of Nature, today whilst in the garden I recognised the unmistakeable twittering and then finally saw my first house martins of the year - always a magical moment for me.
@Allotment Boy I couldn't agree mofe about insurance - and there is no thanks for being a loyal customer.
Your cakes sound yummy @Obelix-Vendée and I'm sure they will bring in plenty of money at your Fair.

I forgot to comment on the slow cooker rice pudding! I do this all the time. In the past, I was wasting quite a bit of milk, we don’t have it in hot drinks, and if we go out for breakfast, it doesn’t get used up in cereal. I decided to buy a small slow cooker specifically to make rice pudding in, thinking it would pay for itself by cutting down wastage, and it certainly has! One of OHs favourite puddings, I rarely made it, and very rarely put the oven on now anyway.

How lovely to have house martins @Ladybird4. When we first moved here, they used to nest under the eaves of a couple of houses down the road but we haven't seen any for the last few days.

I've just done more pottering around in the garden, doing odd jobs here and there and getting distracted on the way. We had rain overnight but not enough then a couple of showers during the day. My daughter had told me that it had been raining heavily since she woke up this morning so I was expecting some about four hours later - which dully arrived.

Love the sound of those cakes @Obelix-Vendée, it's the one thing I really miss on the 5-2 diet, although I must confess I do succumb when I meet my friend for coffee at the GC - and I do have Easter Eggs stashed away. We're being kind to ourselves this week and not fasting whilst we're both feeling poorly so not fasting this week. Think it's more sensible at our age. Good luck with your diet @Blue arbour, we find it works for us.

Glad you're safely, if tired, back at your Norfolk home @Busy-Lizzie. Good that your gardener has kept things neat and tidy, means you can relax a bit and just do the things you enjoy.

Hallo there everyone. Well it doesn't take too long for things to get back to normal i.e. windy, rainy and decidedly cool. Some of my plans might have to be put on the back burner. Yet again I see that the felling of a majestic ancient tree is causing huge controversy. It is so sad that this latest occurrence has happened. Apparently this beautiful old oak was alive during the reign of Henry Vlll. A tree preservation order has been placed on the stump. Stable door, horse, sprang into my mind.

Chilly and windy here, some rain but only enough to make things damp rather than wet. Am hoping for some proper rain today to top up my water butts.

All those cakes sound fabulous @Obelix-Vendée, very tempting. OH is hoping for a banana and walnut cake. Two very ripe bananas have been put on the chopping board as a very unsubtle hint, accompanied by a sighing ‘I suppooooose these could go in the freezer……..’ I think Imight make one, I love the smell but can easily resists the cake itself.

OH has just popped to the GPs. The letter changing his medication has finally arrived from the Consultant - only taken about 8 weeks :dunno:

One he gets back, we are going to look at carpets for the living room and staircase. Am hoping we might swing by the GC on the way back. Not that I have anything to get, I just have a GC shaped itch.

Stable and door is very apt @Ladybird4

We have just done our house and car insurance. OH spends hours each year getting quotes and deciding when to pounce on a deal. In the past, we’ve gone through the farce of cancelling a policy a few days it expires and then taking up the much cheaper “new” customer offer with the same company :roflol:

Frustratingly, our car insurance leapt up last year when I had to surrender my licence (eye issues). The insurance had been in my name for years since we sold OH’s car with OH as a named driver. Now it obviously has to be in his name and despite no claims for over 8years up shot the cost. We’ve (well OH) managed to get a slightly cheaper one this year with our now priceless 1 year of no claims.

Glad you got home safely @Busy-Lizzie. Get well wishes to @Busy-Lizzie @Penny_Forthem and Mr @lizzie27

Good morning all. Damp and blustery here but I am off to work so don’t really mind. Got lots of little jobs done yesterday and the rice pudding was a success. Very creamy. OH made a beef stew mix so will top a portion with mash for tea. I want quick food when I get home from work. The rest will be portioned and frozen.
Nanny duty went well I don’t love the new house but I don’t have to live there. Thomas has had a haircut and looks very cute. He went to bed on time and was no bother. Hope you enjoy your Wednesday everyone

Just popped up the garden to check the GH, it’s very cold. Beef stew, mash and rice pudding sounds perfect for the weather today @Debs64 Seems strange after a week of salad weather

Morning. I can vouch for the fact it's cool.
Awake a lot in the night with pain. Assume it's starting to knit together.

Morning everybody, sorry to hear you had a bad night @Penny_Forthem. Hope you have a better one tonight. I'm told that bone starts to repair itself very quickly so fingers crossed.
I too, had a bad night but with stomach ache. I don't know why but the combination of scrambled egg with smoked salmon on toast doesn't always seem to agree with me. However, it was most probably because I ate more chocolate afterwards than I should have - not a good mix!

Sunshine but windy here so hoping to get out later. Loads of weeding to do now that the ground is damp so probably that's the main job today. Still coughing and spluttering so not up to anything more energetic. OH is still so-so, so hopefully is going to escape the worst.

Glad your evening of babysitting was quiet and peaceful @Debs64. I expect your daughter was lucky to get a house at all in today's climate so needs must I suppose. Perhaps it will grow on you once she's settled in.

Banana and walnut cake sounds so delicious @Butterfly6, can you send some over here please.
I'm hoping our waterbutts are now all full again, must go out and check.

                          Enjoy your day everyone.

I was woken at 2am by a big gust of wind blowing over the conifer in a pot by the garage door. Wasn’t expecting it to be windy, but luckily nothing else was blown around badly.
A day at home trying to straighten up before visitors tomorrow or Friday. I’ve moved all my seed trays into the spare bathroom. They were starting to take over the area by the windows, and getting in the way. My replacement credit card has arrived, and now ready for use. I’ve had to go through the statements to see which monthly subscriptions will need the payment details changed, luckily not too many.
Weather very changeable out, the sun does keep breaking through, but luckily it clouds over often enough to stop OH moaning that he wishes we had gone out! We will have granddog staying for at least a week, so there will be daily walks whatever the weather! She is very old now though, so not sure what her stamina is like now.
Finished my coffee and a hot cross bun, so back to work. Jacket potato and tuna planned for later.

Morning all. Windy, chilly here. Meeting up with someone to sell my Amethyst gem to, only a little over a carrot, have a certificate for it. Part of my mission to get rid of stuff in the house.
Made a cake last week using my frozen beet puree, called Chocolate beet cake, really yummy. can't tell there is 2 cups of beets in it, moist cake, cream cheese frosting. Rice Pudding, made many years ago, probably 50, but current husband says he does not like it in general, can't have calories around he can't help me eat.

Outside tasks to dig out some weeds that love to seed themself about, little clumps of yellow flowers, the leaves look like wild violets. Husband has been spraying them in the woods to kill them, or on the grass/ lawn area, direct spray to keep other things unharmed.

                              Have a grand day all.

Could they be Lesser Celandines @redstar?

Friends dropped round this morning so we had coffee and a good chat. Then we went to the GC as handyman has finished making the short path to the summerhouse and it needs plants along the side of it.

I've read all the posts since yesterday evening but memory is like a sieve today. I hope @lizzie27's tummy is feeling more settled. Thank you @Butterfly6 for your good wishes. Sad about the tree @Ladybird4. I hope @Penny_Forthem won't be in pain much longer.
