A lot of hard work has gone into it @Sheal and it's looking great.

After moving here I bought a new ground post for my rotary washing line. This week with the help of a neighbour and my other half, we set too removing the old post and base in the lawn.

As you can see this wasn't going to be easy. The slab was cemented in and on further investigation found it attached to a concrete base wider than the slab. It measured about 3 x 3ft across.

After chiselling some of it away we eventually flipped the base over and out of the hole. A depth of almost 2ft with rocks and house bricks all cemented together. With no way of moving it due to the weight it was broken up in situ.

Now ready to be taken to the tip.

And this is what it was holding upright. A six inch piece of flimsy plastic. Why do people do this? :doh:I had to remove a similar block/washing line post in a previous garden.

The cut away turf is now lining the bottom of the hole and that will be covered with topsoil and grass seed.

Don't you just hate jobs like these , they just get worse and worse the more you invest into it.

I agree @Perki, you just don't know where it's going to lead when the job is started.

I'm glad you were able to get rid of the concrete base, the lawn will look much better now. What a job it was though !

Thanks Michael. I'll be starting another project soon and hopefully the last of the garden re-design. I'm getting too old for the heavy work. :old:
