Didn't make any beds, back needs a rest, though we went for a walk this afternoon. It's been a lovely sunny day but with a nippy breeze. My back feels worse when I sit for a while. Fish pie for dinner tonight.

Oh poor you @Busy-Lizzie. Back ache can be so debilitating. Hope you take it easy the rest of this weekend and give it chance to ease up. I am signing out for now - a peaceful evening for me too with the gardening programmes. See you all in the morning.

A very good morning to everyone. Today - for the first time this week I have no other commitments to my time. I've been invited to my sis and BIL's tomorrow so I am making a green salad but that is not difficult so I'm hoping for some pottering time. Whatever you have planned for today, I hope that the weather is kind to you and @Busy-Lizzie, take care of that back.

Good morning @Ladybird4 and all to follow. Almost sunny morning, still very warm. Today must prepare few dishes for Easter lunch, and would also bake walnut cake. First tea. Have a nice day you all.

Good morning @Ante1. It is quite windy here this morning and I would love a bit of your sun! As long as it stays dry that would be enough for now

Good morning all we had rain overnight but it’s supposed to dry up later, I am planning a morning in the kitchen, I want to make stock with some chicken carcasses from the freezer and a big pot of chilli that I can portion up for quick after work meals.
If it dries up I have morning glory seeds to sow and maybe I will sprinkle a few hardy annual seeds around in the garden

Morning everyone, my last post disappeared. This system still keeps logging me out!
Loads to do in the garden and on plots. I always find the same at this time of year.

                  We have rain!!!! Proper rain!!
Off to visit MIL today so will be put for lunch at a very nice Italian restaurant nearby. The forecast is sunny down there so I am hoping that rain will be filling my water butts in our absence.

Daughter and her little family are coming tomorrow and have just realised I am missing a crucial ingredient for my veggie mushroom parcels :gaah: They were originally going to be away this weekend and I was very organised for next weekend. Bringing lunch forward a week, I seem to have lost the plot and various key ingredients, on my time travels. I’m not sure I can face another trip to the shops so will have to get creative. I usually do some sort of veggie wellington or parcel for their visit so will have to get all my veggies out and (hopefully) see what delicious combination I can create.

Wishing you all a happy Easter and hope all arms, coughs, backs and other troubles are improving

                    Good morning all.

Thank you @Ladybird4. I slept better and my back feels better this morning, not right yet, but on the mend.

I'm wondering whether to water the garden. It's been dry and sunny here in Norfolk, for a few weeks, except early this week when we arrived back. When planting I found that the earth was pretty dry. We should get light rain for a couple of days next week.

I'm sure that whatever you cook will be delicious @Butterfly6.

It poured with rain all day so I managed to wash most of the downstairs tiled floor, still the conservatory to do. I was bushed so spent the rest of the day in my recliner. Watched a fascinating TV program about the newly found dinosaur, in Dorset I think, 12 months ago, and how they dug it out of the cliff face and cleaned it up. I remembered it being found and how it was all kept hush hush at the time. It was lovely to see David Attenborough excited at what was going on.
My grandmother was a great one for taking in cats, People seem to think it is OK take in what they consider a stray, my daughter almost lost her cat to a lady who said the cat was being ill treated because she had been kicked, making her limp. I informed her the cat limped because she had been hit by a car, had had a fractured pelvis and was rehomed to my daughter via the local RSPCA. I checked with the police when I found out who was trying to take over the cat and was told it is actually considered theft. Cats are opportunists and will find themselves quiet, warm snugs to sleep in, as well as cadge extra food. Many will run at least 2 "homes" and there is also a strong dominancy war amongst them. My current cat when she was very young disappeared for 4 days, I mentioned it to my neighbour who laughed and said it was probably Mrs *****who lived over the road. Poppy came back smelling very strongly of perfume but never went missing again.

It rained heavily almost all day yesterday, and it’s still at it this morning. The garden looks really happy about it, but we have granddog staying, so I do have to drag myself out for short walks.
Pastries for breakfast, then I’ll do some laundry.

                          Morning all.
Hub set his alarm early to get the bus into town, as he found that one of his script meds was missing. I planned to get up just before he left the house, but...zzzzz.... 90 mins later, here I am!
Looks like it might be warm enough for a stint in the greenhouse later.
There's a big cricket match today over the road, so hope it stays fine for them.

                            Good afternoon to you all!!

A rainy Easter Saturday but no torrents which is good. The ground is very wet and apparently tomorrow will be sunny as will Easter Monday.

Started eating radishes and artichokes from vegetable garden. There are two artichoke plants. 1 purple and one big green. They take up a lot of space but fresh artichokes which have no "hairy" middle is worth it. Radishes are crunchy. I planted some lettuces in January (rougette) and they too are nice an crunchy.

I sympathise with you @Busy-Lizzie Rain must be coming for you which doesn't help joint pain. Have you got any back stretching exercises to do? Even just the baby crouch position could be a help.

I made steamed monkfish last night with za'atar cauliflower steaks roasted and boiled artichokes with vinaigrette.

I wish you an enjoyable lunch tomorrow @Ladybird4 A green salad is always a great contribution to the table.

Lemon meringue tart for pud tomorrow. I will prepare the filling this afternoon to save time. Leg of (NZ) lamb for lunch which should lead to a shepherd's pie on Monday!!

A pleasant Saturday afternoon and evening to everyone.

No decent rain here, the spots didn't even join up on the patio, last night or this am. As it was dull and windy still decided to concentrate on the greenhouse today, lots of pricking out and potting on.

That programme about the "sea monster " as they called it was actually a repeat from last year but none the worse for it. I always like anything involving Attenborough.

I have been blown away by a delivery of a Cote at home box from friends.
                                Truffled corn veloute and sourdough
Lamb rump, mint jus, dauphnoise potatoes and peas
Cherry and peach financier with mint creme anglaise
                                Bottle of red.
                                Who's a lucky girl?
No wonder hub was evasive when I started suggesting things to cook for tea. He was in on the secret.
