Good afternoon everyone. First of all I must apologise to you @Goldenlily26 as I must have missed you saying what day your birthday was on. It seems as if you had the most magical of weekends. Loved reading your post!

Thank you so much for your explanation of horse boarding @Busy-Lizzie. It all makes sense now. Your pictures of Felbrigg Hall are stunning. Wisterias featured on GW last Friday and there were some clever growing of them as standards up stout poles. I do have to say that I prefer them grown up taller supports/walls though.

Today I went to visit my blind friend whose OH passed away on Easter Sunday. It was very emotional but we did enjoy our hours together. I had called into the nursery on the way there and bought her a potted dianthus that smelt deliciously of cloves. She still has a little sight and has family living close by so is coping. Her OH is having a very simple cremation tomorrow - no fuss. Unfortunately I am already singing at another funeral at Church tomorrow so will not be able to go.

              Good morning all.

We had a good day yesterday. Lunch in a pub by a river then boat on the Broads. Glorious weather.

The family wants to take the steam train from Holt to Sheringham today.

Thanks for the good wishes everyone. I am still recovering, getting ready for my son's next spell in Cornwall before his return to Canada.
It is too hot for me outside unfortunately. Managed to get a double load of washing dried outside, lovely to be able to just fold and put away.

                  Morning all. Another glorious one.
To say our anniversary was low key, was an understatement, but we will make up for it.
He went for a meds review, but they were running so late, he'd have missed the last bus, so he's going again today. He was not happy.
Someone (not me, surely?) overordered on our Indian takeaway, so plenty left for tonight. We didn't even have our bottle of bubbles.
However, we did have a sundowner on the patio, while the dogs raced around the garden, so it was a pleasant evening after all.
                  Enjoy your day @Busy-Lizzie.
Whatever you're doing, make it count!

Am enjoying the cool indoors after another day visiting some gardens. We drove down to Gloucestershire and visited Painswick Rococco Garden and then Miserden, which is just a few miles away. Painswick was very interesting. Apparently it is fairly true to its original design as a 18th century gentleman’s pleasure garden. This seems to consist of shady walkways with lots of little buildings and covered seats all looking down on the central orchards and vegetable gardens where his peasants would have been toiling away in the blazing sunshine. I suppose it was the non-technological version of slow television :heehee:

My favourite of the two was Miserden. Very much an English country garden with some beautiful views across a wooded valley.

The car temp gauge said 26 degrees when we arrive home, bonkers for April! Work tomorrow and waiting in for the plumber, again. He didn’t get to us yesterday as he had a job which over-ran.

Good afternoon everyone. Well the funeral was very nice and the relatives who had come over from Ireland were very appreciative of all that had been done.
It has been a stunning day today but too hot to be outside for too long. I was happy I had done a lot of watering before I went out. I have a meeting to attend tonight at 19:00 and hopefully that won't go on too long. We are just planning a calendar of social events for the rest of this year.

Neither the plants nor me is doing well in this weather.
It take me twice as long to do half as much with one arm.
We are having last night's left over Indian.

Good evening. Been busy today - morning with minor domestic tasks and watering seedlings, divisions, pots then a tea dance this pm. That was good fun - same thing I reported on last month with the 95 year old in hot pants under lace trousers and the 102 year old in a leather mini skirt.

This time the 95 year old excelled herself. She was wearing a black bikini top trimmed with pink fluo bandings and fancy strapping at the back and, I think, the black hot pants. Her shoes were 3" high platforms with 6" heels and pink fluo straps. Over the undergarments she wore a beige voile (ie not opaque) dress with a black lace front bodice and an open back, hence the view of the intricate strapping. Hubby clearly doesn't have a pink fluo tie so wore a black shirt, beige wasitcoat and orange tie and belt.

OH and I will never colour coordinate but this pair are clearly aging disgracefully in an engaging way. Admirable.

We enjoyed ourselves. May Day holiday tomorrow (Celtic Beltaine) and, apart from gardening, we'll be having a spring feast for dinner.

Hope you've all had a good day and get a good sleep. More warm weather tomorrow but not quite as sunny here and Sunday's rain has moved to Monday but that's OK. Hope it stays good for you wherever you are.

Goodness me @Obelix-Vendée , three cheers for the 95 year old. Did you feel over-dressed at all! Sounds all good fun though.

Cheer up @Penny_Forthem, you're at the half way stage I think or close. At least this lovely weather has meant you could get outside, even if only playing one handed ball with the dogs.
It would have been worse stuck inside in pouring rain which is usually our lot in April.

Glad the funeral went ok @Ladybird4, hope the planning meeting doesn't go on too long.

I've not done much again today because of the heat apart from our usual morning walk to the shops. OH stayed at home because he had a blister on his heel and didn't want to make it worse before he goes away for his trip. We've watered front and back gardens tonight in anticipation of higher temps tomorrow.

I am so very pleased that some bearded irises that Ben Cotto (a former GW member) sent me back in 2023 are showing buds for the first time. If anybody is still in touch with him, please do let him know and send him my regards. I can't wait to see them in bloom!

Speaking of which, I have four rose blooms open - in April. Must be the earliest ones ever.
A red Etoile de Hollande, pink Zephirine Drouhin, a Blue for You and a tiny creamy apricot rose from a cutting whose name I've forgotten, but could be Penelope, fabulous.

                                Hello May.jpg
White rabbits everyone! Pinch and a punch for the first of the month. Off to Bestie's this morning and her hairdresser daughter is going to rescue my thatch. The meeting last night was the usual 'everyone wanting to speak at the same time' and I woke up with a banging headache this morning. Hey ho.
@Obelix-Vendée how fantastic are those dancers! Loved reading about them. Are any of you going to do 'No mow May'? Just been hearing about it on the news. I don't have grass - apart from what sneaks in from other gardens so I just have plants for pollinators. My camassias have been good but as last year the blues are far earlier than the whites.
