A fragile beauty of David Austin's Summer Song. It fades and bakes quickly in the sun. But I still love it, the colour, the shape, fragrance.

Back in 2016, @noisette47 gave me some peony rockii seed. They started flowering after about 7-8 years, but one was a bit slower. It has gorgeous brown foliage for most of spring. Now it has gone green, and I've had its first ever flower. Wow!

I think "mummy rockii" had dealings with some non -rockii pollen. But I'm not complaining!

I don't think the hostas have ever looked so good. Usually they're eaten to shreds by now:

Wow indeed! :) You've got the patience of a saint...But the search for the Holy Grail of the species continues...They are available to buy here at rare plant fairs but they never achieve the lush proportions of the shrubs growing further north in Normandy.

@noisette47 the other seed you gave me are looking "proper rockii", and one is so bumptious it has spread over and practically blocked the adjacent path! So I'm going to air layer it before I have to cut it back to allow access. Have you ever succeeded with cuttings of rockii? They haven't worked for me.
By the way, any idea what the pollen donor was for my pink rockii? The colour is a pink from the bluer end - mascula maybe?

Hi, I've never tried cuttings. The 'donor' for the other one would have been a GC-bought cultivar. One of the double, blowsy plants imported from Holland no doubt! I can't resist them  That rather gives the lie to doubles being sterile!
