Morning all. Had an enjoyable quiet day pottering.
Lizzie my BP is usually around 116-120 so when it dips below 100 I feel lightheaded. It is interesting, the attitude to BP levels seem to change, depending on whom you speak to. GPs seem to go into a tizzy if it goes below 100, the cardiac team jump for joy. I do not feel able to function when mine dips, it has always been on the low side.
I made some Melting Moments biscuits for my neigbour as I missed her birthday which was when my family were here visiting. I also sowed some veg. seed. Potted on the Regal perlagonium, it looks much happier in a proper pot, I have put it on a patio table outside one of the windows so I can see it from inside.
It is a glorious morning here, cool, sunny and the birds are singing. I sort of do not want to hear rain is on the way at the end of the week but the ground is like a dust bowl. My first enormous peony flower has opened, lots more to come.

I am so very envious of your peony flower @Goldenlily26 as I have tried for years to get them established in my garden. Carefully chose the spot and didn't plant too deeply etc. etc., bought them potted in flower but never had them return the next year. On the other hand I planted a tree peony last year and it is growing apace. Whether it flowers or not remains to be seen.

Morning all, it feels cooler this morning so I've a jumper on. We're meeting friends for lunch at a nice pub, OH has got the old 1930's car going so I'm a bit apprehensive as to whether we'll actually get there! It has a nasty habit of breaking down so fingers crossed.

That's quite a long journey to Greenwich from Norfolk @Busy-Lizzie so best wishes to you. May both our journeys be care-free!

Both my peonies are in bud but didn't give a good display last year so I'm hoping for a better one this year. Plenty of watering and feeding methinks.

I always had low blood pressure until fairly recently but my GP told me it increases with age which you can do nothing about. I was quite miffed. Like you, Goldenlily I get lightheaded sometimes, a most unpleasant feeling. It usually clears with a sit down and sweetened cuppa.
Melted Moments biscuits sound absolutely scrumptious.

Afternoon everyone, after a heavy day at the plots yesterday I'm taking it easier. We are having a bit of a tydy in the borders. Trying to make space for some of the plants I grew from the free seeds with GW mag plus some we bought. Have a good rest of the weekend.

Our journey was care free @lizzie27! I hope yours was too. It was about 2 hours then another 2 back - long enough to get to you in Bath!

Grandson was left at a station and we have several bags of stuff and a big plastic box of kitchen equipment.

I'm off to the garden now, drive needs weedkiller and old forget me nots need pulling up, they are smothering some other plants.

                Good afternoon everyone,

Well we’re back after a week in Cumbria. We have been so fortunate with the weather, it’s been glorious. It was interesting to note though, that the local news there was warning people that there could be a shortage of water in the coming weeks and a hosepipe ban possible unless they get some significant rainfall. It’s very dry where I live, too, and the grass is definitely showing signs of stress. Lovely though this sunshine is, we really do need some rainfall.

I’ve been out and done a bit of rose deadheading, and tomorrow OH and I will have to trim the hedges (hawthorn, predominantly) as they’ve really taken off. We can only use the hedge clippers at the moment though, so as not to disturb any nesting birds - it will have to wait for a serious trim with the electric trimmer once the nesting season is over.

Our roses are much further on than in Cumbria - we were at Lowther Castle and Gardens yesterday, and although the rose garden is looking nice and healthy, the buds are still very small and tightly shut. I was hoping the bushes might be in flower so we could enjoy their fragrance, but it wasn’t to be.

Good to see that you might be driving again soon @Penny_Forthem. I bet you’ve really missed not being able to.

Lovely day here. Did a bit of planting at my Sister’s (strawflowers I grew from seed) - showing niece how to prick out carefully. She selected the ones with plenty of roots to plant-up, as per instructions. This afternoon I’ve been clearing an overgrown area - aka making another massive pile of stuff!

Low blood pressure can be helped by feet-up and a large drink of water, but if it’s frequent or bothersome then ask GP to check you and any medications you are on @Goldenlily26.

I hope everyone is ok and enjoying the weekend so far.

Good evening all. Last night's committee meeting went well and the pot luck afterwards was fun but I didn't get home till 10:30. We could have finished the meeting 90 minutes earlier had the conversations been better disciplined but the chair is as bad as the rest - 6 people talking at once and repeating the same thing over again is unproductive.

Got home in time to put the chicken thighs in to soak for today and go to bed.

This morning I made Indian spiced beef koftas with a minty, garlicky yogurt dip for the apéro then a frangipane and apricot tart for dessert and to share. We had spare Tandoori chicken thighs too as some of the neighbours are learning to like furrin foods. A good time was had by all with lots of fun and banter and good food and drink.

We left at 8:30pm. Possum is still there as she's made a new friend - daughter of the couple who hosted this time. They were just getting out the mogettes (Vendée version of cannellini beans they cook with carrots, onions and herbs) to heat up on the BBQ and serve with bread and the booze was flowing but without any drunkenness. Nice bunch and some great kids too.

No gardening other than watering pots today and not a lot tomorrow either as we're off to a vide grenier in the morning.

Sounds like everyone's had a good day. Hope everyone gets a good sleep.

Evening all, pleased to say that the car went well and we got there - and back! Enjoyed the lunch with our friends but were a bit dismayed to find one of them is now in a wheelchair. He's having cancer treatment unfortunately.
I ordered a small fish and chips which when it arrived looked large to my eyes until OH's larger portion arrived, absolutely huge and nearly jumping off the plate. We'd agreed to eat at lunchtime so I could have a night off so I've just had a chicken salad sandwich with a glass of wine and OH a cheese one. Feel full up now!
That is such good news @Penny_Forthem and I bet your OH will be relieved that his favourite chauffeur is back.

Thanks for that info about BP @AuntyRach but why is water better than a cuppa?

Glad your journey went well @Busy-Lizzie, OH is impressed with the times, says you did well.

Hello there everyone. Goodness but these weeks pass by so quickly. @Obelix-Vendée your description of the meeting resonates with me as I have been to so many of those recently at Church. I can understand NOT wanting to have a severely formal meeting but I would be happier if we actually had an agenda and that meetings were minuted. Enough of my gripes.
Its looking good out there and last night I did get my watering done - only the various containers but my poor hydrangeas in the borders are showing real stress. I might have to give them a saving can of water today.

I agree, a sit down with a cuppa and a book helps with low BP but frustrating when you have plans and cannot carry them out. Every time you try to walk it feels as if you are going to fall over.
My first peony is a very large flowered, single, pale lemon tinged pink, with a lovely citrusy scent. The others are all lined up with nice fat buds, a red, a pink, a white and a bi-coloured one which has never flowered before. I am excited to see what it is like, if it is rubbish I will probably bin it.
Watering is the order of today, everything is drying out so quickly. A Lemon Cake is in the pipe line, not sure when.
