The deed is done. I picked a single carnation from the garden to send with her (she ate enough of them)
At least we have 2 more 'erberts at home to distract us, but they know something's amiss.
Only when you've had 'pets' do you realise they're not 'pets', but family.

      Thoughts to @Penny_Forthem.

Just home from a loooong day - achy feet and tired brain. Just checked on poly greenhouse as not seen it for 2 days. It survived the wind and the plants are growing away nicely.

      I hope everyone is ok.

Fine thanks @AuntyRach except for my left arm having a sore and tender lump at the Covid jab site. We left the tea dance at just after 6pm cos my arm was complaining.

The 95yr old with a very personal sense of style was wearing a fairly normal dress today - full length, ultramine background with a huge print on the skirt that looked like a cross between a peacock feather and a butterfly wing. Strappy, empire line bodice in the blue and covered with beads and sequins. Looking very good. Lots of bare shoulders, cleavages and thighs on display today and some very smart frocks and energetic dancing and lots of smiles. Definitely a good way to age with gusto.

The only downside was the music. Different 2 or 3 piece band each time and today it was a pair of brothers, one of whom played the accordion and did all the singing. The other played drums, tho they had an automatic drum thingy which left him free to play his saxophone which was fine till he started leaping around the dance floor with it. He also played the saw - yes, one of those long bendy metal things with teeth for cutting wood - and it sounded like the ghost soundtrack for a really bad horror film. Shan't be going again when they're playing.

        Have a good sleep everyone.

Hello everyone. @Obelix-Vendée, I was really looking forward to hearing about the grande dame and her attire and I wasn't disappointed! Love your description! I've seen (and heard) saws being played and they have the same effect on me as fingernails being dragged down a blackboard (in the olden days ). No signs of CC this morning but the weather being the way it is I am not unduly surprised. Now I think its time for tea and breakfast. Hope your Thursdays are marvellous.
Virtual hug to you @Penny_Forthem. x

            Good morning to you all!!

Sunny and bright - 30°C in the afternoon is very very hot when it comes all of a sudden. It was 16°C in the morning. Today is Ascension Thursday and another long weekend here in France - so long in fact, that families started arriving on Tuesday evening - there is no primary school here on a Wednesday and many will take tomorrow off as well. The weather is perfect for holidaymakers.

That was nice @Penny_Forthem - the carnation.

              Yesterday ended up very muddled.
I went to my surgery to have routine blood tests done. I saw a new nurse and there was a lot of checking and rechecking the medications I am taking, plus pulse taking etc., because she thinks she has picked up I am suffering with AF.(Arterial Fibrillation) so I have to go back this morning to have an ECG done.
I came out feeling really unwell but managed to get to a GC, via a long detour, not the one I wanted to go to because there are road works on a major junction so traffic is horrendous. The GC did not have the compost I wanted, bought some Farm Yard Manure and had a sandwich before coming home and retiring to my recliner. I will try another GC this side of town this morning for the compost and obelisks. I went to B&M on the way home. Found a lovely hosta to replace one of mine which disappeared over the winter. Cream leaves edged green. Not a variety I have seen before, always so many new varieties each year.
It seems that half my medical notes are not recorded because I had to go to a different surgery for my original emergency appointment. The results of my ultra sound scan and CT scan are not with my notes either because I had to go to different hospitals to have them done. Surely, one name , one person, one set of notes. This privacy thing seems to be carried out beyond
              reason.
There was a very young medical student with the nurse, observing. I agreed to let her have a go at taking my bloods, I asked if I could have a sling afterwards to milk sympathy. Bless her, she was so nervous, hands shaking etc. She did well, no sling required.
Hopefully I do not feel so awful today after the ECG.

@Goldenlily26 there seems to be no communication between different health authorities. I am supposed to go to a hospital some way away (I'm no longer going there but that's another story) to see an endocrinologist about my over-active thyroid.
Last time I went he was very cross with me because he couldn't access my latest blood test results and said I should have taken them with me. Well, I would happily have done that if I had know that I had to!
                Hope things go better today.

G'day everyone. Ascension day public holiday here so rules about being noisy outside. OH got out his fancy strimmer on wheels to cut down more long grass between 10 and 12 while I messed about watering my nursery and potting up newly delivered iris sibirica paprikash and sedum José Aubergine. More such pottering for me this pm and OH is planning to dig clean edges round my new island bed before tackling it again with the rotavator.

Cloudy all morning but set to clear and get to 25C this pm and 32C tomorrow. Sunday's storms and rain have gone away so, all in all, good for all the hordes descending along the coast for the long weekend.

I have found the owners of the visiting beige cat with brown tail and face but think it's still visiting at night as we have at least 2 visits. Either that or the farm cat is very greedy or is bringing a friend.

Medical records here are online @Goldenlily26 so when I see the knee man in Nantes or have an MOT blood test or do the biennial poo test or get a flu or Covid jab it all goes on file for my GP to see and I can access it too. Same in Belgium except no patient access tho that may have changed since we left in 2016.

Hugs for @Penny_Forthem and anyone else feeling sad or bereft.

There seems to be a veritable explosion of people being diagnosed as A Fib. My BiL has been convinced by his BiL, who's an ex cop and therefore knows all about these things, that it's all down to the covid jab, so they have stopped having them.
Hope yours can be swiftly sorted, @Goldenlily26
The house was very quiet this morning; Maisie used to 'snuffle' at the door. There was no mess to clear up either. Our other 2 are being very clingy.
We have realised that this decision has been hanging over us for quite a while and, coupled with me breaking my arm, routines have gone by the board. Time to start addressing that.
We are taking them to the van this afternoon for a good run - them and us.

I hope you all enjoy the run @Penny_Forthem, even if your role is "supervision".

OH's mum had Atrial Fibrillation in later life and also had mini strokes so, as her doctors said it was often hereditary, her 3 children were tested. Another factor is diet so no surprise that BIL and SIL have it and were put on blood thinners. BIL's wife did not cook so fed her family on microwave meals bought from ASDA and M&S. That went straight away and she went out and bought a set of stainless steel pans with 5 steamers and they moved to home cooked dinners with 5 steamed veggies a day.

20 years later, BIL is now fine, slimmer and fitter but SIL has not changed and is now very ill and has had several mini strokes which affect her eyesight and speech. OH was fine and is still fit as a fiddle.

Afternoon all, as you say @Obelix-Vendée , AF seems to be diagnosed very frequently these days, I wonder if it's mainly because the population is getting older? Both my remaining siblings have got it, my younger sister being worse than my elder brother who's now 81. My best friend has also been diagnosed with it but thankfully I seem to be ok at the moment.

@Goldenlily26, do you have the NHS online account yet? If so, you can look up your GP's record and meds. I don't think that the hospitals/GP's have co-ordinated computer records yet but I believe that is being organized.

Hope you enjoy your trip to the van with your remaining dogs @Penny_Forthem, I think the weather forecast is a bit better soon.

I'm having to take it easy today as I twinged one of my back/hip joints yesterday and get a piercing 'ouch' pain on certain bending movements. Going to watch ETTC in a moment.

A very good evening one and all. As expected when I got to my Bestie's it wasn't too long until we were roped in to play games. Bestie is having her front porch re built and there was an interesting array of scaffolding all around the front of her house so it was easy to find distractions. We played a dinosaur game which was quite different to anything I have seen before and there were more soft toys than in Hamleys. It was so nice to have a catch up and we got all of the donations for the Ukraine transferred into her car as she was taking them round to the orgabiser once granddaughter had been picked up.
I was so sorry to read that you are a bit under the weather @Goldenlily26 and you too @lizzie27. I don't know anything about atrial fibrillation so that will be my homework for tonight! As for the self inflicted 'excess gardening etc' muscular/joint aches and pains, I am a master at those. I always seem to think 'I'll just do this little bit' when really I should have listened to my body and stopped.
Have a lovely time with your two pooches at your van @Penny_Forthem.

Another Friday, another end of the week and almost the end of another month! Hello there everyone. I just have gardening on my 'to do' list today but I've a feeling that the tap controller in the sky will put paid to my best laid plans. Whatever you have in mind for today, have a good one.

Arriving home later today. Looking forward to seeing how much rain we’ve had and how the garden is doing
