During the recent dry period I have been saving water from the kitchen sink for use in the garden. Emptying and refilling the cats' water bowls, my water bottle and my hot water bottle, and various other things (not washing up as I have a dishwasher) generally produced about two watering cans per day.
Unfortunately I do not have a downpipe to which I could attach a water butt, as I live at the wrong end of a row. I am wondering if I could use a water butt to store grey water as collected above when it is not required due to rain?
Can anyone think of any reason not to do this?
    Thanks.

Should be fine as long as you use it regularly.
Washing up liquid contains nitrogen-based compounds that will encourage algae, but that shouldn't be a problem in a water butt and it's going to very diluted anyway so shouldn't be an issue.
    Go for it!

I can't think of a reason why not @katecat58 especially if you add a silver disc to the butt to help keep it clean

Thank you both. @Bluejayway, what is a silver disc?

That’s it @katecat58 , what @NigelJ said! Not cheap but last forever and really do keep the water sweet, even over winter.
